Do you find it difficult to come up with gifts
for your DH/SO as time goes on?
I have trouble, his birthday was yesterday and it was really hard. I don't usually like to give "we" gifts for his birthday ie TV, surround sound system, DVD player, etc. It's his birthday, not our birthday. That's ok for Christmas/Anniversary when it's for us, but even those have become difficult if it's not a "we" gift.
PS. I ended up getting him the IPOD Nano - with a g/c for Itunes. This is his first IPOD.

i always want to get him something "special" but as each year together its like i run out of ideas (and ocasioally cash)
we are big gadget people but its like we have everything...ps3, blu ray player, big screen tv, ipods, laptop, video games, gps, satellite radio, portable dvd player...etc etc
i always feel like clothes aren't "special" enough. grrrr

Re: Do you find it difficult to come up with gifts
Sometimes I just ask him what he wants. But a TV would be a "him" gift since I could care less what I watch stuff on!
Usually, we do a Met's game and I'll get really good seats and he can invite friends and I treat for the whole thing. But his B-day is in May so that is easy, plus I know he loves it!
I stay away from "stuff" b/c we already have too much of it plus I'm always getting him things like clothes, Met's stuff, books all the time.

You are so lucky! I wish he liked to cook, he only likes to eat! Although he does do the dishes...

Re: Do you find it difficult to come up with gifts
Definitely. But starting in the beginning of November, I listen to everything he says with the thought in mind of tying it to a Christmas present.
One year, he was complaining that he kept losing the little plastic things that go in their shirt collars - I think they're called stays? Anyway, I found a little man organizer for cufflinks, his ring, stays, his watch, etc and he loved it! I also put new cufflinks in it, new stays, got some new dress shirts to go with the cufflinks...
Last Christmas was all about golf, his new hobby. I'm thankful I have a big thing like that to fall back on for present time!

I'll usually buy him tickets to something or take him to a nice restaurant if I can't think of a good gift. He likes video games & dvd's so that usually works. Once I bought him a ping-pong table for his b-day so I don't think i can top that

Yes ! So we decided that we won't gift each other all the time. This past Christmas was one - we had just moved and spent a lot on carpeting and painting and such. Our anniversary was a dinner for the two of us.
DH's b-day is coming up soon, so I think I will surprise him with a Garmin since he is so directionally disfunctional. Have I mentioned that he is a bus driver ?

Re: Do you find it difficult to come up with gifts
yes! buying gifts for dh is a pain... he doesn't wear jewelery, barely buys clothes (and has to try them on first!), and there's VERY rarely anything he really wants. always an adventure.
eta: he loves to travel, so we've taken to going different places together and counting that as our "gift".

Re: Do you find it difficult to come up with gifts
YES!!! Because he never wants anything. He says that if he wants something he will buy it. He is SUCH a scrooge when it comes to gifts and takes all the fun out of it.
He lets me buy him Christmas gifts- and tells me here an there some suggestions for those.
But his birthday he insists on no gifts for him- and I always feel like a heel not getting him anything. He's a real pain!
