Do you get free parking at Disney if you are staying on property and have a car?
If we wanted to drive instead of taking shuttle, is parking free or only free at hotel?

Yes you can park at any if the parks for free if you are staying on Disney property.

As long as you are on property parking at the parks is free. One nice perk if you stay onsite with a car.

I used to feel that way, but I think it depends. We have had cars some trips and not others. Sometimes we used them a lot, others not at all. I think it depends on resort, time you are going to the parks etc. Driving to MK is a pain bc you have to park at the TTC, take the tram to the TTC, then take the monorail to the MK. The bus drops you off at the MK entrance. EPCOT also is a real pain getting out with traffic if you stay for illuminations. Mid day is easy, never had issues midday leaving at AK or HS. Just remember you have to take a tram most times to get to the front of the park. So if you have a stroller you have to fold and unfold/unpack etc for the tram.
At the poly car was helpful for AK and HS. AKL for example we got to the parks quicker with the buses. But it does beat standing room buses any day.

MK is the only park I would not drive to. That is one reason why we bought DVC at Bay Lake Tower

ditto...we rented a car and stayed in a condo, and my inlaws took the shuttle, and we always got there quicker.
