Do you get marketing materials/email spam/junk mail

for any prescription medication that you're on?

I'm just curious as I just had a complaint from someone who is on medication for depression & he was sent an email asking him to participate in a marketing survey. Understandably, he's upset about having his information sold.

I'm not on rxs & going by what my husband is on, he hasn't had it happen to him either. I'm wondering if it's a random email (coincidentally from the small city & state that our insurance is in) or if they've sold his information.

Has this happened to you?

I have only received marketing materials from our local hospital and medco.

No, but none of us are on anything long term right now.

If the person contacts the market research company and asks where they got the name from they should disclose it. They will probably have to provide a code from the mail piece for them to figure it out, but they should be able to tell them where to find it and the format.

Another option is to contact The Direct Marketing Association and let them do the leg work for you. They'd probably want to know about it since it feels like a HIPAA violation and they will fine the marketer for that.
