Do you go for facials?

I have never had one because I remember when I was younger people saying, it can make you break out afterwards etc. Just wondering if that was bs lol. Do you go? Would you recommend it? How often? TIA!

Re: Do you go for facials?

Ugh, no!

I went once because someone gave a GC for one, at a really nice place too.

It was painful during and after. I was red and blotchy for a couple of days.

My skin was wrecked for weeks. Major breakouts. Big fat pimples and small under-the-skin ones. It was awful.

Never again. My skin has always been clear and I'm never going to fck around like that again.

Never broke out afterwards.

Yea, I try to go every couple months. I love facials better than massages. I have never broken out. My skin always feels so soft and smooth after.

Do you go for facials?

I have a ton of blackheads and whiteheads. I would love to get one every 8 weeks but it's very expensive. I usually go twice a year. Ideally they say it's good to go at the change of seasons, but it's all a personal preference. I need them for my skin to look smooth and clear. I think it all depends on your skin type.
And depending on your skin it's normal to break out afterwards because they are bringing everything to the surface.

Ahhhhh this is my fear! I do have pretty sensitive skin. I don't break out often but still don't have the complexion I'd love.

Same here! Went once and was hesitant what she wanted to do. She convinced me and sure enough, I have some scars now and my face was a mess for quite some time. I had to baby it for a while. I always thought this was something I would treat myself to here and there but I will never do it again

sounds like you had someone who didnt know what they were doing. a good aestetician should be able to look at your skin under the lamp and tell if its sensitive or not and use appropriate stuff.

I've had facials (a few not many). sometimes my skin looks a little red but usually from them massaging cheekbones and such. its usually not painful.

where is it for? you can probably sell it on a gift card exchange and get something for it.

or maybe they will let you exchange for another service. make up some excuse that you cant get facials b/c of allergies or something. maybe they'll work with you.

Re: Do you go for facials?

Hate facials. My skin is way too sensitive and prone to redness.
For me, less is more when it comes to skin care.

I love them. My skin always feels so smooth after! I just went for one on Friday. I'm also weird because I love when they remove the blackheads. It's painful, but I love knowing they're being taken out.

It was microdermabrasion. I didn't want that and it was a big deal at my appointment that I didn't want to do it. She talked me into it. This was at a plastic surgeon's office.

That is probably the case. I've thought about that before. The whole experience was so horrific that I can't risk ever trying it again. :(

Re: Do you go for facials?

I used to like them. Now I feel that I can do the same things at home and I would rather have a massage or other spa treatment.

Re: Do you go for facials?

Nope. Don't want anyone touching my face.
I have sensitive shin and mild rosacea and know what works for my skin.
I'd rather have a massage.

I go a few times a year, always with a groupon so always a new place. I've never had a bad experience, luckily, and I have mild rosacea. I really love it, so relaxing & I don't mind the painful part cuz I want that stuff out! The last place I went to was my favorite & I would go back. Prism wellness spa in St. James. They had a rosacea specific facial that used all natural botanical products. My skin looked amazing afterwards!

Re: Do you go for facials?

i love them! I like them better than massages. I have pretty sensitive skin, and after extractions I can get blotchy, but it ill go away before morning.
I have been going to the same place for about 15 years though. make sure you go to a place that knows what they are doing and can asses your skin to know what they should and shouldn't use on it. she varies the stuff she uses on me depending on how my skin is at that time...

I LOOOOVEEEEEEE Facials! i don't go as often as I would like, but I try to go at least 2 times a year. I don't break out or get red except maybe right after an initial scrubbing. my skin feels so soft, clean and supple after! I highly recommend !
