Do you go to the Ped as SOON as you hear a croup-like cough?
RJ is starting with the croup cough today
It's only every few times he coughs that it is that *bark* sound.
do I jump up and go to the Ped for some steroids or see how it goes??
He is otherwise happy

*I* don't if they don't have other symptoms, but I know my cousins do.

Does he seem like he's struggling for breath at all?
I would definitely call the ped. DD woke up barking about a month ago and she couldn't draw in a full breath--we went STRAIGHT to the ER.
Croup scares the living crap outta me...I would definitely call.

he is feeling fine today!! Even last time RJ had it, the doc said it is the same as a cold, it's just that his body reacts to it differently.

No because there isn't much they can do anyway so it's a wasted trip.

I was also going to say, make sure RJ isn't wheezing, even a little. Your ped will give you the steroids.

Not really--if it's gets to the point where your kids is wheezing and struggling they can give a steriod to open them up. My stopped breathing 3 months ago from the croup in the pediatricians office. Thank God I followed my gut and went.
