Yes large office. We all use it. I mainly use it for work. It's easier to im someone across the country for a quick question then calling.
I use AIM through Trillian because it keeps a log of the conversations. I need to have a log for my records (HR).

I have it on my computer. I work for a large hospital so it's easier to IM some people if you have a question. My supervisor knows I have it and uses it as well.

We have Microsoft Exchange IM. My company employs about 40K + so we can get in contact via IM with any of them.

Yes I have Aim and I work in the IT department and we use it all the time to communicate with each other trying to solve problems.
And Yes they would know you installed it.

yes and it was my boss who requested we have it. I work in Woodbury, my boss is in NYC and a co-worker is in NJ, another works from home - makes it much easier to communicate

No, I don't even go online at work if it isn't related to work. We are watched all the time.
At my last job we all had yahoo messenger, and used it for both work and personal IMing - the bosses knew and also had it.

We all use it at work to talk to each other! My old boss (she's no longer at the company) used to IM me all the time asking for things she needed. It's easier than having to get up and come talk to me every 3 minutes and I was able to get stuff to her quickly.

I have it...I work in a large office. My boss sees it up sometimes...they say nothing. I also IM some of my co-workers with it. I think it's convenient.
