Actually we just got one last week and put it up. I think it looks so quaint and old-fashioned like.

I think after 9/11 people started flying their flags year round. My parents used to only fly it on American holidays, but now theirs is up permanently.

Not on an everyday basis.

Proper treatment of the American Flag is actually outlined by and Act of Congress.

A flag is only allowed to be left out at night if there is a light shining on it.

Stars are always to be on the left when hanging it flat.

The flag should be raised quickly but lowered slowly and into someone's arms.

Faded, tatered and otherwise worn out flags may be burned in a discrete manner or dropped off at a local VFW hall and they will properly dispose of it.

Being a history teacher, one of my greatest pet peeves is the improper treatment of our flag. You don't see that in other countries, even ones that are very poor.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon So many people "think: they are being patriotic but in reality that are being obnoxious to our flag. There are rules people, learn em if your gonna fly the flag. If I ever met the wo/man who created the one that goes in car windows I am going to presonally kick his behind!

THANK YOU for posting the rules and helping to enlighten others.

We follow all of these rules to a T.
Unless it looks like it will be a nice day, we go out and then it rains. Then there is nothing we can do.

We used to before we got the siding. I do put out flags that go in the ground for Memorial Day and 4th of July.

No and like others have said, I don't equate hanging a flag with patriotism.
