Do you HAVE to give baby cereal?

DD is still on her solid food strike, I just got her yesterday to eat a 1/2 a jar of fruit.

SHE absolutely refuses the cereal.

DO i have to give it to her, does she really NEED it?
Her other meals are all formula. She is 7 months old.

Andrew hates Rice but loves the Oatmeal.

When TJ refuses the cereal I usually just mix it with the fruit. He'll eat it all that way... Have you tried that?

I would mix it in the fruit. I disguise all sorts of stuff in applesauce!

I am getting worried i am going to have a really picky eater on my hands

I have tried rice, it doesn't agree with her, she eats oatmeal now, and used to gobble it up. I haven't tried the barley yet..

I have mixed it with fruit, different fruits, water, formula, warm, room temp, all by itself, on the same spoon but not mixed with fruit.

we finally got her to eat applesauce yesterday all by itself warmed up. DH had to make the funniest faces and surprise her with the food, it took a little bit but in between pressing her lips together, and fake gagging.. she opened it to finish 1/2 the jar of stage 1.

I have even tried a couple times to see if she wants to feed herself, nope she just sticks her fingers in the cereal, and bangs the spoon on her highchair.

At this rate i will have the only toddler still eating stage 1 fruits

I am at my end, she used to finish 2 tbls of cereal no problem!

Is she going through any milestones? Maybe that may be making her act this way. Is she constipated?

What I do is scoop up some cereal first and then on the same spoon scoop up some fruit so it's at the tip of the spoon so he thinks he's having fruit.
