Do You Host Birthday Parties For Your Child?
I was just wondering how many parents here host birthday parties every year for their child.
I didn't grow up having a single birthday party since it's not celebrated in my culture. Was wondering how everyone else feels about the importance of having annual bday parties for DC.

I grew up always having 2 birthday parties actually....a "family party" for the relatives (usually just at our house) and then a "kiddie party" for my classmates (sometimes at the bowling alley or roller rink type of thing)
I plan on doing the same for DD....

Re: Do You Host Birthday Parties For Your Child?
We had a birthday party ever year with our friends & family. Most of them were at our house - with the exception of our sweet 16.

In my family, we have a "kid" party and a "family" party until we are ten years old. Then we just have a kid party, no more family parties. We would go out to dinner with my grandparents though.
Apparently, it is continuing into the next generation b/c my little cousin will be 11 in March and he is only having a party with his friends.

We had a party for her at house for her first. We didn't have anything for her second but we will be having one for her 3rd because she is having a sibling arrive right after and we want her to feel special this year.

Re: Do You Host Birthday Parties For Your Child?
I have a big birthday party every year for my kids. Older son is going on his 6th...little guy going on his 3rd.
Growing up, I always had parties, but they were always at home (except one year it was at McDonald's). Much more low key- but lots of fun just the same.

Re: Do You Host Birthday Parties For Your Child?
Well for the last 2 years we have been having joint birthday parties for myself and my friends whose kiddies are born over the holiday period. I know I keep saying this, but we have a group of about 21 friends who we all met at playgroup and NONE of us want to go to 21 parties, so we join up. This year its Noah, Albie and Esme's party (last year Tom joined us, but Tom moved away this year)
Its nice because it keeps the cost down and we can do more stuff, like more food, more games, karaoke etc. This year we have rented out the Irish Club and are having a cash bar to lure the daddies in. I can't wait!!

Re: Do You Host Birthday Parties For Your Child?
We had low-key parties for DS for his first 4 b-days. I think starting at his 5th, we'll have them at an event-type place. Most of his classmates have had them at places. We went to one this past weekend at a slot car racetrack. It was very cool. We are leaning towards doing the next one at our karate school.

Re: Do You Host Birthday Parties For Your Child?
I wanted to say that I think Birthday Parties are really important for kids, as their parents, you can make them feel special every single day of the year, but on that one day...well, everybody else can do it also!!!
