Do you know how to sew?

Well, I just learned last night how to sew a button Chat Icon Chat Icon When I was ironing, a button popped off of one of my DH's favorite shirts and I thought to myself, "It's about time I learned!". I have tried before and for some reason could never do it. So I went online, printed directions Chat Icon and did it! Chat Icon Small but now I feel a little smarter.

I am so jealous of you girls out there who know how to sew, crochet, quilt etc!

Re: Do you know how to sew?

A button, a small tear, yes.

Anything beyond that I take it to my dad. He's used to it, having sailed for years.

He once sewed a new lining for my leather jacket that I loved. He's very good - except for one minor problem. He's an engineer. So when he shortened a skirt & pointed out that he fixed it because it wasn't a perfect circle, I pointed out that I had an azz & it wasn't supposed to be a circle.

nope Chat Icon and it really makes me sad- both of my grandmoms, AND my mom are awesome seamstresses and quilters... my dads mom makes awesome quilted wall hangings, and my mom made my wedding dress AND all the bridesmaids dresses!! AND her mom ( my grandmom) made the flower girl dress! i'm so proud of the work all three of them do, and i wish i could do it... but no matter how much all of them tried to teach me when i was growin up, i just could never get the hang out it... its a great skill to have, though!heres my mom's handywork Chat Icon External Image External Image

I can do minor things - sewing a button back on, fixing a rip at the seam, etc. all learned from Home Economics in JHS Chat Icon

Yes, my great grandmother was a seamstress. She taught me the basics and I can even put in a zipper, which is not so easy. As far as making a dress or something, um no.
