Do you know of anyone within your family that is having an affiar?
And does it impact how you treat them?
I've had a few and it definitely impacted how I viewed them and how I treated them. I have little or no respect for them, especially when they are hurting people I care about.

Yes
Someone I always looked up to too. It has completely changed my opinion of them, how I treat them and my level of respect. And I daresay that my view of them will forever be tainted. I am literally nauseated when I think about it

Not family but a friend. My stance on it, is I judge no-one, I cant unless Im in their shoes..but respect is mine to be given and that they lose and never regain for hurting someone.

Same here, i knew of a friend but she stopped but I can't really judge her becuase it's her life and she has to live with it.

Re: Do you know of anyone within your family that is having an affiar?
I don't know if it's still going on, but my uncle cheated on his wife - and my grandmother defends it She goes "well i don't blame him, because his wife let herself go so"
It infuriates me. But, she's Italian, and he's 'the son' She's always defending crappy things he does - it drives me nuts.

Re: Do you know of anyone within your family that is having an affiar?
My uncle, my only living relative on my mom's side. He cheated on my aunt a few years ago with a woman younger than me!! W T F! It's hard to take that the only living link to your mom is an A$$.
Oh, and FH's cousin. She claims it's ok because her husband is on disability and needs back operations and she has to get her "something something" from someone

Same situation here as well. I don't think my friend has actually gone so far as to *cheat*, but she's seriously contemplated it. Because I know her situation in particular, I don't judge.

unfortunately yes - my mom while she was still married to my stepdad, while the divorce was happening Not only was it an extremely difficult time for all of us, but my mom went through a temporary phase of what I can only compare to teenage rebellion - and would go away for the weekend, have the guy pick her up AT OUR HOUSE, and used her best friend as an alibi. The worst part was the fact that she made no secret of it, and everyone, including our neighbors, knew about it. I was so embarassed that a grown woman would act that way, and my MOTHER to boot! It really did effect our relationship, changed my view of her into someone who is very self-centered and inconsiderate. To this day my sisters and I just have a completely different view of her and I hate to say it, but we've all lost a lot of the respect we used to have for her. She's still our mom and we'll love her unconditionally, but it's sad that becasue of her selfish actions, that we can't really respect her as much as we used to. It really tore our family apart too, our uncle (her twin brother) won't even speak to her anymore and we only see them for family events now.
I went through the same exact thing with my mom!! Word for word!!! It was horrible. and at the time I was only 13. EVERYONE knew but my poor dad and I couldn't bring myself to tell him. Finally my sister did b/c she couldn't take it anymore and my father left my mom. I dont know what she was thinking but It completely changed the way I look at her. But it also helped me learn from her mistakes. Seeing what it did to my dad and to me and my brother... It makes me that much more aware of everything I do now that I am married. Instead of growing up to want to be just like her... I want to be the complete opposite.

Re: Do you know of anyone within your family that is having an affiar?
one of my IL's cheated on his wife before they were married. He cheated on her with one of my then-friends. I don't know if the wife knows. I highly doubt that he ever told her.
I don't know if he still cheats on her, but it turns my stomach at how disrespectful he was to her. And, the DETAILS about HER LIFE that he shared! I'm embarassed even knowing these details (my then-friend shared all the news with me)
To answer your question, no one ever expected much of this guy, and we still don't.

ditto, I actually go out of my way sometimes to NOT act like my mom and I get all freaked out if I feel like I'm starting to think/act like her. I guess we used a bad example and turned it into something good for ourselves at least... It is very sad though, so sorry to hear this happened to you as well

I know of a few family members who have cheated (I have a big family), it's not my business though, it's their issue with their spouse and themself.

I know of many family and friends who have cheated on their SO....and it always seems to change the way I view them...I am always wondering if they are at it again.
