Do you know someone who always asks for advice, but when you give it come up with excuses or reasons why they can't take your advice?

I can't stand that!

absolutely! SIL is planning her wedding right now and is always asking me who i used for this and who i used for that, then she'll find some backhanded comment.

for instance, a few weeks ago she asks me what kind of cake cutter i used. i told her i had lenox cake cutters and she goes "oh, we dont like lenox...it looks cheap". helllllooooooo? i just told you mine were lenox!!!!

Yup, my SIL calls me all the time about her son and never listens to a thing we say. Then when the Dr tells her the same thing she listesn to him and acts like I never gave her that advice. I am so sick of wasting my time on the phone and losing time with my kids for her to not listen to me.

OMG this is DH's BIGGEST pet peeve!

HE absolutely HATES THAT!! it's mostly b/c of his job. his boss asks his opinion or advice on something and then argues with him

Yes but sometimes that person eventually takes my advice but does not acknowledge that the idea came from me. So, she heard me out even though she will not admit it.

Yes - my ex-best friend would always call to ask for advice about how to deal with her boyfriend and then she'd never take my advice. Worse yet, she'd keep asking me the same questions over and over. I finally told her that I could tell she was hoping for different answers than the ones I was giving her and I didn't see the point of talking about it anymore since it was obvious that she wasn't really looking for advice.

She doesn't give me excuses about why she can't take my advice. She just asks me for my advice, hem and haw about it for hours with me, then goes with her mother's advice. I've had so much time invested in her over the littlest stuff that now I just refuse to give her any.
