Do you know what
Im getting so tired of hearing "I really need to start seperating myself" from my child
Lately- Quite a few people (including strangers) have felt the need to tell me, how us spending so much time together- is basically gonna mess up my child... and I need to start seprating myself
I dunno- I work all week (even if its PT) and hate even leaving him then- every second I have I wanna be with my baby...
Granted DH and I go out about 1x every other week together, and I do get out and have a girls day to get my hair done and stuff every now and then...But other than that- I wanna spend MY TIME with MY FAMILY...
For instance- today I was at my cousins shower, and we were talking about Ryan- Now Ryan has no problem (for the most part) when I leave him with either grandma or DH- but obviously when I leave the room, and he is left with an unfamiliar face- he starts to freak out! (I would too- If I didnt know who the h ell was holding me, and my mommy just left!) After hearing this, this woman- a stranger mind you, goes on and on abnout how horrible this is- and how Im doing my child some injustice by being with him all the time....
Grr... it just bugs me.... I didnt know it was a crime to love your child so much- you wanna be with them all the time!
I also wanna add... Ive been working in a day care center for years... and let me tell you- there are children that have been there since they were 6 weeks old (FT) and still have seperation anxiety- some kids have it- regardless of your parenting style!

Re: Do you know what
No one has the right to say that to you! I want to spend every minute I have with Alison, and quite honestly - I would be PO'd at someone that said it to me!!!

no matter what, YOU are his mommy, and the only one that does it right...no one has a right to say anything to you.

Re: Do you know what
I have been asked when am I going to go back to the hospital to get the umbilical cord cut
I just smiled and said " maybe when she is 18.."
Seriously there is nothing wrong in my books with your baby loving you and wanting to be with you....before we know it they will be aserting their independence and they will no longer think the world starts and stops with us so I say enjoy it while you can and to hell with the onlookers who have no clue really....

Re: Do you know what
Some people are idiots, plain and simple! I have had people tell me I need to let her cry and not pick her up so much... It is SO annoying when people think they know what's best for MY child. I am with her 24 -7 and hold her, love her, nurse her, wear her in a sling and if people don't like it, too bad!

Re: Do you know what
Tell people to mind their business . What makes them the experts? I always ask my mil what was the last baby related article she read??? This is a normal reaction for kids their age.....unfortunately mine doesn't have it and will go to ANYBODY

Ugh...I get this one too! DH's grandmother can't understand why I have such a difficult time getting stuff done sometimes. "Just put him in the f-in playpen and let him cry!" Don't let anybody tell you what's right for your child!

Re: Do you know what
Don't listen to them. Both of my cousins slept in their parents bed every night until they were 4 and they both chose to go away to college and are perfectly normal now. People think that what worked for them works for every kid.

Re: Do you know what
Unfortunately, people will always be telling us what to do with our kids. Its unbelievable to me that people can be so rude... but they are.
It's so wrong, but unfortunately we have to develop some thick skin to it. Just try to come up with a witty retort, like- "oh thanks- are you offering to babysit?" or the pp's "when she's 18"
It sux, but unfortunately people can be damn rude and stupid.

Re: Do you know what
You would think that people DON'T want their kids to feel comfortable with strangers. I have noticed that people, mostly family that you only see once or twice a year...expect for your child to feel totally comfy when they hold him/her. Sorr, but this child doesn't know you from a hole in the wall.
Don't listen to these people. You do what's right for you and your family
