Do you leave fruit out in a fruit bowl...
or place in the refrigerator. I love the look of a fruit bowl but I always seem to get flies even if I scrub the fruit and don't let it get too ripe. Am I doing something else wrong?

My mother puts out plastic fruit - my brother thought it was real once and bit down on an apple and said that it tasted waxy.
ETA: We keep all our fruit in the frig cause we like it cold.

I do. I dont get the flies though. the only fruit that I get the flies from are bananas when they start to turn. otherwise no flies. I get oranges, apples, pears, kiwi etc.

Most of the time, I put it in the fridge. It does ripen better on the counter though.
I used to do a fruit bowl, and never noticed a problem with flies. But the fruit would ripen too quickly sometimes and we wound up throwing some out.

Most of the time I leave fruit in the fridge. I do have some peaches out right now so they can ripen, and I don't have any flies.

I only leave apples and bananas out in a fruit basket...these are the only fruits I dont like cold.

I do both.... I leave some in the fridge, and I leave what needs additional ripening in a basket on the kitchen table....I never have problems w/flies though....maybe your bringing them home from the store??

I usually keep a bowl of fruit out on my table. I don't get flies...but it does get soft/brown quicker.

DH leaves apples and bananas out, but unfortunately, he doesn't eat it fast enough, so it gets tossed. Grapes go in the fridge.

I keep fruit in a fruit bowl, but only buy enough fruit for the week so it doesn't go bad. Also, I usually only do apples, oranges and bananas. If I buy plums, peaches, or any softer fruit I put it in the fridge.

i put fruit in the fridge i only leave tomatos on the table - they loose their flavor when refridgerated.

I hate cold fruit. I just recently bought a fruit bowl and keep apples/oranges/and bananas in there.
