Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

My mother came over and freaked when she saw that we leave the kids windows open during the night. Do you? We live in a ranch house.

No, I keep all the windows shut and locked at night. I'm neurotic, lol.

Re: Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

yes we do. We live in a 2 story house and there's no trees to climb to get in, so we're safe there. Chat Icon

But even if it was a 1 story, we'd still crack it open.

Re: Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

I leave her window open all summer long because she refuses to let me turn on her air conditioner when she sleeps.
But she's on the 2nd floor.

Yes - they are wide open right now.

She's on the 2nd floor -- and we have a dog who barks at any little sound anyway....

Usually they are shut since we have CAC. On cooler nights, I keep them open until I go to bed and then lock them.

We have a ranch, and I don't leave them open. But we run CAC all summer...

No way, I would be way too nervous and I live in a very safe neighborhood. Too many wackos out and about these days.

Re: Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

We have window ACs so not right now, but usually. I love sleeping with a window open, myself. They are on the second floor, though.

Re: Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

Yes. The room is in the back of the house, on the second floor. Someone would have to bring a ladder into our backyard, put up against the house, and then climb up to get in.
I like for them to get fresh air.

If I had a ranch I wouldn't.

Once we shut the CAC off I will open his windows - but we're on the second floor.

Re: Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

No.. I am completely paranoid. I lived in the City for years. ALL windows MUST be closed before going to bed.

I even close DS' windosw during the day if he takes a nap in his room.

Same here. Our bedrooms are on the second floor but I'm way too cautious to leave windows open overnight.

I mentioned it on another thread on this topic, but someone tried to pull a close friend of mine out of her window in the middle of the night when we were kids. That scared me for life.

Re: Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

no, but only bc we live on a main road and the cars and trucks would wake him. If I did though, Id def use those things that stop the windown from opening more than a few inches.

Re: Do you leave your DC's windows open at night?

No, they stay locked and even though all the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor the windows are alarmed like the downstairs. We either use the AC or the ceiling fans at night.

Thank goodness I keep the windows locked, last night after tucking him in I caught DS standing on a piece of furniture with the upper half of his body under the blind looking out over the backyard. Today I rearranged his room so he can't do that so easily again.
