Do you let your child eat in the car?

Solid foods, that is - not bottles/cups.

Re: Do you let your child eat in the car?

I would let them eat snacks and have bring there sippy's. I would also feed them chicken nuggets Chat Icon . Once DS was potty training though that all stopped because I didn't want to always have to worry about bringing him to the bathroom. Funny thing is, they asked for it twice when we got in the car the first few times and I just told them I forgot it and that was it.

I wanted to add that I only gave them food if I was locally driving. Everything is very close to my house so I don't have to go far. For trips longer than 15 minute I didn't give them food.

Nope. Both of mine went thru periods where they would get carsick, so sometimes I would let them have crackers if they told me they were feeling sick, but thats it.

They cant eat neatly at home, I hate when things get mushed into the carseat and stuck in their pants Chat Icon

Not to mention I have gaggers/chokers on my hands Chat Icon

Re: Do you let your child eat in the car?

Yes, goldfish/cracker type foods. But I do regret it b/c it's getting harder & harder for me to reach back there to hand her stuff (we have a van which is nice & spacious, but it's hard to stretch back there!)

ETA: She's a neat eater so that's not an issue.

Re: Do you let your child eat in the car?

No, unless someone is in the back with them. I was told at a child safety/CPR class we took to not do this bc in case of choking you lose precious minutes trying to safely pull over, get into the back, unbuckle DC and help them. And god forbid there is no place to safely pull over, then what? It just stuck with me.

if we are at the park till 5, I always pack a little dinner for him...that way its bath and bed.

he does a ton of healthy munching in the car. fruits and veggies...i guess since he has nothing to do back their then eat.

Re: Do you let your child eat in the car?

No, I can't reach him if he is choking, plus I don't want food all over my car.

Sometimes. I try not to though. It makes me uncomfortable and I'm constantly looking thru the rear view.

Only on long trips and if DH is with us.
If I'm driving, I can't get back there heaven forbid he choked.
Its scares the heck out of me.
When we do long trips, I keep an eye on him like a hawk (or dh does).

Yup! Although as he gets older he wants less and less in the car unless we are around a meal time.

Re: Do you let your child eat in the car?

I won't b/c I have a ridiculous fear of choking

DH won't b/c he'd have a stroke if the truck got dirty -

Re: Do you let your child eat in the car?

I generallly don't give her anything if i'm in the car with her by myself, but that's because I can't reach her.

DH gives her fries and nuggets if he happens to go through a drive thru and she is in the car.

If we're both in the car then I've given her cereal, fries, pancakes, chicken nuggets, pieces of burgers....basically anything.
