Do you let your dogs on the furniture (Bed/Couch)?

Just wondering what is the 'norm'? I know people who do and others who don't - Teemu is too little to get his little booty up on the couch or bed yet, but I am sure he will get big quick!

Hershey was allowed because she was smaller and cute (and because when it was just the two of us, she was allowed and we never trained her not to ... because she was smaller and cute )

Max tried to all the time. In fact the day we brought him home from Little Shelter, he grabbed a rawhide off the floor and climbed on our brand new couch!!!

Bailey - we put on the couch sometimes to freak him!! On days when I'm going to change sheets, we put him on the bed to snuggle a little but he'd nap there all day!!


We actually just put out some chairs that had been "dog furniture" for the past few years and were stinky!!

Jessi and Morgan both are allowed on the couch and bed. Riley is not allowed on the couch b/c she is still a puppy and when she gets excited she tends to pee...So def no couch.
and We have a high bed, so she can't jump up on it yet

Kasey is allowed on the bed but when we want her to get down we say "off". She doesn't sleep with us, but she likes to lay on the bed even if we're not in the room.

She's not allowed on the living room furtniture but she's allowed on the futon in the office and the futon and couch in the Florida room.

She's pretty good about knowing her boundaries now, but still can't resist the living room couch in front of the window!!!

Scruffy has his own spot on the couch (his blanket and cushion. If he's not there on the couch, he will snuggle with us on our lap...

in bed..he has his own bed, and ours. sometimes in his bed, most times, he will be with us...

then again, he is a 10lb yorkie-shu

We used to until Murray got dominant and territorial. We had to show him who's boss.

Everytime we would try to move him or make him get up from the bed/couch he would grown and try to bite so now he is no longer allowed. Although I would love for him to sleep in bed with us and lay on the couch with us

We only let Lucky, our toy poodle, on the couch and the bed. Sometimes he sits at the dinner table too but he just sits in the chair like a statue. Porter, our pit mix is not allowed on the furniture. He is way too big. He jumped on the bed once and his hair was everywhere.

Daisy is allowed and she has her own little corner on the couch where her blanket is, so she can curl up and sleep while we watch TV.

Sable knew for years he wasnt allowed on the coach, but every since dd was born he has taken it over as if it was always his.

I have a Golden Retriever and she goes on one of our couches and only our bed. I wish I didn't start it because she sheds sooo much but I just feel bad not letting her on anything.

We allow her on both. She started jumping on the couch on her own, but she gets down when I tell her too . . .well sometimes.
But she looks so comfy, I hate to disturb her

Simba is allowed on the couch, however, he prefers the top of the recliner to look out the den window and sun himself.
He's not allowed in the bedrooms.

Misty is allowed on the couch and bed, however she only wants to be on the couch when we are on it.
She wants to curl up behind our legs if we are lying on the couch or lay next to us with her head on our lap if we are sitting. Otherwise, she seems to just stay on the floor.

Peanut goes where ever we are. Bad, bad, bad, habbit. At first we thought it was so cute having her around...now it can be annoying.

But, she is only 8lbs and really doesn't take up too much room.

Well, with the cats, they do whatever they want anyway so it's a lost cause to keep them off

But with Casey, we tried so hard to keep her off...didn't work. She is allowed on the couch in the TV room. She is not allowed on the bed upstairs but we normally have the stairs gated off anyway.

I only had Chilly Cat for years so Chilly goes anywhere she wants she's the boss :)

With Jasmine, baby Rottie, I know she will be big, at least 100lbs, so she is very restricted no table scraps, no couch, no bed, but it is a personal decision and one that I am sticking too. She has a wonderful big yard which she gets all that Rottie enegry out! Thank God!

My cats do what they want I let Maggie on the couch and stuff but I keep her out of my bedroom.

He!! to the no in my bed. I am sorry FOR ME and MY DH that is unsanitary. We have two and they weigh 65 and 90 lbs also so they wouldn't even fit.

The couch we have never invited them but I have busted my 6 yr old dog doing it when I am upstairs or out and then when I see him he looks os cute and comfy I don't tell him to get off. Although he usually does and slinks away

I have a cat and an english bulldog. The cat is always on the bed during the day with no one home. Harley (dog) doesn't come on the bed anymore she sheds too much! She loves the couches though. when we move she will not be allowed on the NEW furniture!

He is not usually allowed on the bed but he has been there for several nights now b/c when he stays on my bed he is willing to sleep until I wake him. Otherwise he wakes me early and I am pregnant and so tired now!

As for the couch, well, he has his own ramps to help him get there. He has one for my bed but we move it when we are not letting him up there.
