Do you live consciously?
I am taking this online class "Learn Something New Every Day" for the month of Sept. The class is scrapbook related but is not required. The goal is to pay attention to things in your every day life that you can learn from. So far the two big ones I figured out this month:
Positive thoughts feel better than negative thoughts. This came to me when the office mgr sent an email about a pizza party at work - I would normally roll my eyes and wish for an early closing instead of wasting time with lunch. Instead I thought, cool...I don't usually have lunch on Friday and even made a suggestion when she was taking orders.
I realized I am task oriented and not goal oriented. I get overwhelmed with the details that I lose sight of the finish line. Now, that I am more aware of this, I have to figure out how to stop it.
Do you find yourself paying attention to little things you can learn from?

Re: Do you live consciously?
I try to. I make an effort to be introspective & reflect on things & take notice of ways I could improve myself as a person. Sometimes I feel like I'm just going through the motions of living & the months just fly right on by when I do that. I want to appreciate & make the most of every day. I recognize that I'm a terrible procrastinator & get easily discouraged / overwhelmed by things.... so I have to work on that. As I approach 30, I'm trying to live more consciously for sure. & figure out what I really want to accomplish in my life.

Unfortunately, I don't do this much. I have some a-ha moments but as the PP said I go on autopilot and months will pass and I wonder where did the time go? Sometimes I'm ashamed how I let will let life pass me by.

Re: Do you live consciously?
At work, yes. I seem to be able to 'learn from my mistakes' and try not to repeat. My personal life, not the same. I feel like I lose the same 20 pounds over and over again, as one example.
Wait, I'm not sure I answered the question
Living consciously, I've started doing more of in the past year. When I had my pulmonary embolism last December I realized how close I came to dying. So I take things slower and enjoy them more. I've also just become more retrospective and think often about the questions of my life - if I was to die NOW, would I be happy with what I have done, would I have regrets or think I missed anything.
Remaining childfree is not on my list of regrets.

I definitely don't do this, and honestly, before your post I never really gave it a thought.
I think I'm going to try and do this!
Pretty interesting concept, I dig it.
