do you love your salad spinner?

I want one. Does it dry the lettuce if you put it in there wet after washing? Which one do you have?

Yes! I love mine and use it nearly every night (we eat a lot of salad). It dries the greens really well. I have an Oxo one...I think I've had it for about 6 years, its really great and sturdy.

Same! Only bad things are- it's a PITA to clean (it does not fit in my dishwasher) and hard to store, because it's so big.

do you love your salad spinner?

I registered for it thinking I was going to use it. I haven't touched it since I got it as a gift.

I have the oxo too and I like it. It comes apart easily so I don't find cleaning it too bad but it does take up a lot of space.

I do love mine. I also have the oxo one and I really like it, so much easier to dry the lettuce. Only issue I have with it is storing it like the other ladies had mentioned.

THIS. I actually feel like it's more work to use & clean than to just make a salad! lol

Agreed, I got an Oxo one off of my bridal registry about 7 years ago. I make salads often, but I rarely use it because of the hassle of taking it out, cleaning it, etc.

I usually just buy prewashed lettuce, or if I am using something like romaine hearts, I wash them in a colander and then gently pat dry with paper towels.

I don't really regret having it (not like it was a huge investment), but I cook often and use a lot of appliances and kitchen gadgets, but the salad spinner doens't get much use in my house!

Re: do you love your salad spinner?

Love it.

I would never eat salad straight out of the bag.. especially after seeing some of the ick that comes out when I do wash it. Especially in the summer when I am buying from the farmer's market or getting greens from neighbors who grow their own. But even the 'pre washed' stuff makes me nervous because you just never know. I need need dry salad or the dressing doesn't 'stick' as well. I also use it when I stir fry because wet veggies make the oil pop a little and I don't like that.

Could I live without it? Sure.. but I'd rather not.

Me too. I actually gave it to a friend when she was engaged. Told her to take it off of her registry and just use mine since it was brand new.

Re: do you love your salad spinner?

I have an OXO one as well. However, I did not get the large one, I got the small one because I wasn't sure how often I'd use it. I actually use it for washing fresh herbs from my garden and it works perfectly for that! I use it quite frequently, especially in the summer. Since I have the smaller one, I don't find it to be a problem with washing and/or storing it.

Re: do you love your salad spinner?

I love mine. I have plenty of room to store it & have no issues washing (not sure about what's hard?)

I use a colander anyway to wash lettuce, so now I have a bowl & top too.

It's great to dry veggies for roasting (like broccoli), & I spin my herbs too.

I find the basket annoying to clean b/c the tiny pieces of lettuce get stuck in it, and the top piece, while not difficult to clean, takes FOREVER to dry. If I really wanted to I could get the pieces in the dishwasher, but they would take up almost the entire top rack.

I think mines the oxo one? I never had a problem cleaning it, & it dried on the rack over night? Maybe I have a different one.
