I think the supermarkets should provide us with a list of what is in every aisle! It would be much easier for me since my place often changes things around.
I do go in with a list. If I dont write what I need down, I will forget. Its nothing fancy or super organized though.

I do that too!
I do the same and if Tim is bagging he'll screw it all up!!!!!
I always bag my stuff. Dh does the unloading and I pack. Always paper with plastic. You can fit a lot more in that way.

I write out my grocery list, then I re-write it in order of what aisle everything is in. I started doing this a while back because I would ALWAYS forget something! I'd get all the way down to the frozen foods section and then realize that I forgot to get something in the produce section and have to schlep all the way back over there!
LOL I Do the same thing!

Honestly, it will differ from store to store. When we moved and switched from Waldbaums to Stop and Shop DH had to reorganize the list. Even the two Stop and Shops in our town are not identical.

I usually just go by category (this isn't in order):
Produce items
Grocery items (which gets broken up into, baking, cleaning, beverages, etc)
Baby items
Meat items
Dairy items
Frozen items

I've been very lazy lately and have not been organizing my lists. But, I want to start doing it again.
I do put all of the items in groups on the belt so that similar items can be bagged together...but, I hate it when I get a young person and they put my meat in the bag with fruits and vegetables...it really bugs me!!!

Depends on who's doing the shopping.
Me: No list
DH: I make a list aisle by aisle and includes brands and a note at the bottom that says "this is not all inclusive and doesnt mean you dont have to think while you're in there!"

Okay, OCD, I spent time and made one that I can copy at work. 
I made a portrait page in Excel and broke it up into the following categories:
Produce, Bakery, Meats, Baking/Spices/Condiments
Coffee/Cereal/Snacks, Drinks, Cans and Jars
Dry Good-Pasta, Rice, etc.
Paper and Cleaning, Frozen, Dairy, Misc. Items
Then at the bottom I have the days of the week to write down meals I want to make.
