do you put something under your dogs water bowl to keep the floor dry?
If so, what do you put? I have been putting a kitchen type mat but I think it's getting mold on it b/c it is wet too often.
What is a good suggestion for something that can go under pet bowls to protect the floor?
Keep in mind it has to prevent slipping b/c my dogs push their bowls alot.

We just saw a mat in a Land's end catalog that I think we are going to try. It says it dries quickly to prevent mold. Lord knows we need something as my pup creates a pool outside his bowl every time he drinks!

we use a plastic tray for our smaller dog (the bigger guy has a wood tray that holds the bowls elevated for him)...it has a lip which is nice and keeps all liquids/food contained...easy to clean...got it either at Target our Petco a few years ago. Image Attachment(s):

I always mix up those two!
I was thinking about getting that a while ago, they look like they're good quality. If anyone orders one, can you report back?

Re: do you put something under your dogs water bowl to keep the floor dry?
We use an elevated tray for our dog's bowls and it works to prevent her from making a mess with her water. She used to get it everywhere when her water bowl was just on the floor, and for some reason she liked to splash the water with her front paws. But once we got it up off the ground she's been much neater. Image Attachment(s):

I have a rubber-backed doormat actually that I think we finally have to replace - but it has been two years. It's meant for outdoor or mudroom use I think but we have it in our kitchen!

For a while we were using one of those rubber mats that you put shoes on. They sell them in bed bath and beyond. I thought it was really big though so I down graded to a smaller plastic thing that is supposed to be a tray organizer. The big mat worked a lot better but it just didn't look so great. My dog drips a pool of water in his wake every time he drinks. I try to wipe his face after whenever possible.

I use an elevated platform. 1 for my smaller dogs (3 bowl platform) and 1 taller for the puppy (2 bowl platform).
It's perfect! We have tile. Easy to wipe.
But I find a much lesser mess with the elevated platform type.

Re: do you put something under your dogs water bowl to keep the floor dry?
I have a oversized place mat but, its still not big enough so I have a folded beach towel at the edge of the mat bc they drip as they walk away from the water bowel and the floors are pergo so its not a good match. I hate the way it looks and have been trying to find something else but nothing seems big enough!

Re: do you put something under your dogs water bowl to keep the floor dry?
I think I spent $6 on one of those trays you are supposed to put your boots or shoes in by the front door at Walmart.
It has a rim and keeps the water from running off onto the floor and it's easy to wipe off and clean.
