Do you save all of DC's toys as well as clothes when they outgrow them?

After this Christmas the storage space in my house is slowly disappearing.

Everyone tells me when they get new toys, they donate the old ones but I feel bad getting rid of stuff. I am such a nut I am even sentimental about his "baby" toys Chat Icon

As far as clothing, I save everything unless it didn't wear well on DD. We have her whole stash of toys too unless they were hand-me down's that lost their flare along the way.

Nope. Nothing. All his clothes went to my nephew. Toys/baby gear either got sold or given away!

So than do you plan on buying all new toys if you have #2? That's what my hesitation is to give everything away.

I kept a lot of Robbie's stuff - and continue to do so - because Noah is 2 years behind him. But once Noah is through with something it gets given away almost immediately.

ETA: I tried keeping a few things from each of them. Rob crocheted Robbie's coming home blanket and we used it for Noah also. We still have it. I have their tee shirts and wrist bands from the hospital and I DID have their umbilical stumps until we moved and Rob found them and almost threw up.Chat Icon

Clothing I keep.....Toys etc I donate, sell, give away. The things DS really loved or that have sentimental value I keep. My philosophy is when I have more kids they will have birthdays and Christmas' and new stuff will be out.....I just don't have the space to keep it all.

et correct spelling

I saved all of the big toys that were in great condition.

Any small things that is missing pieces gets thrown out or given to family.

Toys that he didn't really love is given to family.

I should also say that I store it all at my parents house so it's much easier for me to keep things then if it was in my own house! Chat Icon

I'm not having #2, so I guess that is part of why I get rid of it.

I am saving the big toys, not all the little ones that get dirty anyway , etc, pass them on. His clothes its 50-50. For the most part I donate or give away most as I feel I will buy new ( I know me) with a new baby no matter the sex and some I save b/c someone might want them and or they still hold memories.

i save the sentimental clothes or toys and i donate the rest. i kept alot of baby toys that were favorites and outfits that were too cute to part with..but i just cant keep and store everything.
There is also a store near me that buys gently used or new clothing or toys so occasionally i bring my items there and make a few bucks back.

I give everything away to people who I believe can use them, need them, or appreciate them.

So far i've saved everything. If I have another baby it will be in the next few years so I don't see a reason to throw anything out...unless it looks used.

Re: Do you save all of DC's toys as well as clothes when they outgrow them?

I gave a few things to a friend of mine and if I ever have another, she will give them back. Most things I get rid of. I have a huge pile taking up the already small storage/playroom for a spring yard sale. I plan to sell (or at least try) most there. I want to save a few things but I just don't have room for it all. Plus, like it was said before, there are so many holidays and generous people that if I ever do have another, I am sure there will be plenty.

I am definitely trying to get rid of something every time I get
to the next stage or get something new. I have sooooo much-so I try to think of who I can pass the stuff on to. If I have no takers I drop it off at the church.

I'm not, only because I'm planning on having a second. But once I'm done with kids, I will definately donate them.

Re: Do you save all of DC's toys as well as clothes when they outgrow them?

I started off saving every piece of clothing for when I had another baby...

Well now that there is another baby on the way, due at a totally different time/season then my 1st- Im starting to just give stuff away. Other than maybe coats and things, they wont be able to be passed on to this baby. (Thats even assuming they are the same sex)..

As far as toys- I saved the big stuff (activity centers, climbing things, slides) and of course the stuff that has "meaning" but everything else got donated.

Baby #2 will get gifts, he/she will have b-days and Xmas'- so I couldnt possibly save everything...

***I donated alot of stuff to DS daycare, so he still gets to "play" with his things****

i plan on saving everything since we'll have a #2 and #3 someday. I've saved all the boxes for most of the items (especially big items) so back in the boxes they'll go.

I'm really bad with this Chat Icon ....I reallly only get rid of things that are broken or missing pieces ....it doesnt help any that I have an in-home daycare ( well currently on maternity leave) but, I end up finding every excuse in the world to move the toys down to the daycare when my DS is done with it...Now w/ #2 on the way- I'm going to be inindated...Uh-oh Chat Icon

I saved a lot of DS' things for the next baby.
I even held onto his clothes.
If we have a girl this time, then I may start donating, but, not 100% sure we are done.
