Do you send cash in the mail for the holidays?
I didn't think people did this still and have heard about people from the post office actually opening up cards and taking the money. Can you believe that? I received a card yesterday and it had $50.00 in it and was shocked it wasn't taken.

Re: Do you send cash in the mail for the holidays?
Shocked it wasn't taken? How would someone know there was $50 in cash in there?
Technically, it's against federal regulations to send cash through the mail anyway -- not to mention the fact that it's just smarter and safer to send a check...
I've heard of people stealing cards in the mail to see if they had $ in them... but I wouldn't be shocked if one arrived with cash in it. Many people do that. Unless the card is see-through, how would anyone know it had cash in it?

the only time I have ever received cash in the mail was for my wedding - from my Uncle in Israel. I was shocked when I opened it! just thinking of how many different people touched that envelope is crazy.

I did it once and I will never again. It was ripped open and taken. The card arrived with nothing in it.
Nice right? It had to be an employee of the postal service.

Re: Do you send cash in the mail for the holidays?
Never, but my mom did send me cahs once wrapped in a note, and it arrived just fine. ( And then I yelled at her for doing that.)
I however, sent my brother a gift card in his birthday card & it was opened & the gift card stolen.
The ripped envelope & card were then sent in one of those postal office cellophane envelopes that says "oops, this was damaged, here's what left, sucka" or something like that. . . .
