Do you send Thank you's for Christmas gifts?
A few of us were discussing this tonight. The general consensus was that since Christmas gifts were a reciprocal thing, thank yous were not necessary.
This year, I feel like I should send thank yous, because people were crazy-generous to DD. Do most people?
Honestly, I can't remember back when I was a child if we sent thank you's at Christmas. We definitely did for birthdays, communion, graduation, etc.

For Christmas, we never sent thank-you's. But I understand how you feel. This is DS's 1st Christmas and people were more than generous and I was thinking about sending them a thank you note and for making DS's 1st Christmas so special (if I have time of course  )

I was wondering the same thing. I usually send Thank You's for other gifts but I don't remember sending them unless it was to an older relative.
I know what you mean about people being generous this year and wondering whether or not to send.
I am guessing when in doubt, write them. No one will ever fault you for sending a thank you note...

Some of my parents friends were unexpectedly extremely generous so I'll send them to them. Family members where it's reciprocal, I probably wont.

No, only we we received gifts from people we didn't see. Like if they came in the mail and we did not get to see in person who gave us the gift.

I was wondering the same thing also...family/friends were super generous to DD and I don't think we usually do for Christmas but this year we may.

same here.
If they give her a gift directly a kiss and hug are much nicer than a thank you card

We don't send TYs for chrsitams we give hugs, kisses & thanks yous to everyone when we received them.

i always thank in person but I was always taught to send them - although I admit i am sometimes slow on getting them out. So I will do them for DD this year

ditto or someone where it was totally unexpected and we do not normally exchange.
other times, I am a Thank you card freak for every other occasion

Well that's not entirely true. I do sent to family that we don't see that send for Miranda and usually include a wallet photo oh her Christmas picture.

I sent one Thank You note to my uncle who is in a nursing home in MA who sent DS a gift.
He hasn't been able to make it down to LI in a few years. He has never met DS, but, we send pics and cards all the time.
