do you taek your baby to teh dr for a cold? thi sis her first one

I have been sick all week i lost my voice and had a terrible cold. Now Allison seems to have my cold and daddy has it too( oh thats fun when daddy is sick LOL) .Anyway she seems to be in good spirits but she sounds very congested in her nose especially when i lay her down for bed i could hear her all night on the monitor.

Will they do anyting for her

For a cold, they usually suggest:

-saline drops for their noses & the boogie snatcher.

-to keep her at an angle or upright.

-cool mist humidifer during the night

If she starts a fever, to wheeze, to become irritable, I would call. For my kids, it was always very easy for colds to get a secondary infection like an ear infections or in Joseph's case - RSV, bronchiolitis & croup.

This does not apply for newborns. If a newborn is sick, you should call your pediatrician right away.

They will most likely tell you to use saline in her nose. At least that's what they told me for Jaidyn when I took her, she had a fever too or I wouldn't have even taken her. Hope you are all feeling better

ETA: also use a humidifier at night

I did when they were 9 weeks old, just to have the doctor check their lungs. Also do what Barb said - that's all the doctor will tell you to do b/c they don't prescribe meds this young.

Christopher has the exact same thing. I was tossing with the idea if we should call the ped also but we decided not to. I hope we made the right decision.

I only did to have her ears and lungs checked...she had a low fever.
