Do you teach your children about personal hygiene and cleanliness in the home?
For me, I drill my kids so much about personal hygiene and clean habits that my son will notice another kids dirty finger nails

Re: Do you teach your children about personal hygiene and cleanliness in the home?
I do too and he still chows on his boogers in public! What do I do?????!!!!!
ETA: On a serious note, I teach him to wash his hands after he goes on the potty, and not to to touch anything when we're in a public bathroom. I stress the importance of daily showers/baths and brushing of his teeth, which he loves to do. As far as cleanliness in the house, I teach him to clean up his toys (which he never does) and pick up things off the floor that he drops when we're eating, etc. The other day though, while eating dinner, he threw something on the floor and I asked him why he did that, and his answer was that it was for my dog to pick up and eat it...nice.

Re: Do you teach your children about personal hygiene and cleanliness in the home?
my mom would make me scrub the floor (hands and knees) when I was 5ish and i had to clean her wood cabinets with murphy's oil soap anytime i was home sick from school (with out a fever) - i think my mom was insane but i do think children should earn their keep within the home and learn responsibility.
as far as personal hygiene i really didn't learn that hardcore until i was in third grade and started to mature. that is when i learned about hair, taking a bath every day, etc.

Re: Do you teach your children about personal hygiene and cleanliness in the home?
Now that Jack is standing and peeing we have hit the personal hygiene level. He knows that he has to stand super close because it's very yucky to get pee on himself.
The boys also get weekly mani's (nice life right )
As far as cleaning the house, I was just scrubbing my baseboards and moldings and Jack was like "whatcha doing mommy" --- I said "cleaning" - his response was "yes, clean up this mess" Which is what I say to him when cleaning up the toys.
Something I also started to do with him is to have him hold the dustbuster while I am cleaning up a mess he made. It shows him that he can't treat the house like his trash can and hopefully will think twice about making a mess.
Did I answer your question right?!

Yes but I try not to be fanatic about it. I am a bit of a germaphobe and don't want to create that in her but she does enjoy cleaning and doing chores

Last night when I was giving my DD a bath she said to me, I have to take a bath because I have germs, right mommy? We have to clean me!
So yeah, I'm teaching her.

I do , she is good most of the time, but some days she is so lazy I have to force her to wash her hands or brush her teeth. She has this new thing now , she'll pick her nose and ask for a tissue AFTER she finds gold and shows it off Oh and she loves shower/bath and gets it every day , the other day she said to me : can I get a bath , I stink not sure where she got this from , but I almost fell off the couch.

Re: Do you teach your children about personal hygiene and cleanliness in the home?
While I am cleaning, I tell them WHY I am cleaning. Both kids love to help so they each get a a duster. They both love to windex too so I give them a spray bottle with water and white vinegar. It's fun for them and I feel like I am teaching them a lesson too.
You have to see them fight over the "cleaning" toothbrush that I use to clean spaces in my wainscoating!
