Do you think I can make a playroom/office room?
GREAT news.. I got my new apt already. It’s a 3X2 with a deck, attached garage, gated community, with business center, pool, gym, spa and movie theater. 1300 sq ft. $1100
So.. the reason I went with 3 bedrooms was that it was only $150 more a month but included the attached garage for my sporty yellow car. For less I’d get a 2bedroom and get a detached garage that I’d have to pay $85 a month in rent and have a walk to the car too. I figured the extra room and the convenience of having the car just as staircase away was worth it.
So AJ has a room and we do too, what do I do with that third room? I was thinking of making into our office - all my 400 books plus our computer stuff. Then I wondered, do you think I can make it a playroom too? Just keep the books out in the living room area and make that third room into office/playroom?
This bedroom is at least 10X12.
Has anyone done this?
Any suggestions?
Leave the playing to her room??? Her room is slightly larger than the one I’m thinking of making into an office.
Whatcha think???
TIA
ETA: this apt is in San Antonio, Texas - just FYI

Totally! We have a library/playroom. All of our books are in large wooden bookcases and we have a window seat sitting area and then a playmat on the floor and toy box.

Wow! Thats a great price! Where are these apartments located? In answer to your question I Think you can make a playroom office. Just keep anything important on higher shelving. I think it would work out great! Congrats on the extra space!

I don't think I would. I try to keep DS out of our office as much as possible. There is just too much in there that he wants to grab and paly with that is not appropriate for him (especially the computer).

Re: Do you think I can make a playroom/office room?
my uncle has shelves w/ doors on the bottom and open bookshelves on the top - so DC can put the toys away on the bottom and your books will be out of reach.
maybe you can get an area run in a kiddie pattern that's dc's area. i know there is the green road rug - not sure if you have dd/ds.
there are also armoires that hold computer equipment - or you could take the door off the closet and build in there if you don't need the extra storage.

Re: Do you think I can make a playroom/office room?
I would as long as you don't really plan on making a "work" office, you know?
We are pressed for space, so our living room has computers, books and 50 bizillion toys.
DS has toys in his room and our house is all one floor, but he doesn't really play in there, he wants to play where we are,s o if you made the playroom/office comfortable for both of you, then that would be nice, you know?

Re: Do you think I can make a playroom/office room?
As long as neither you nor DH have to work from home, I'd do the room as an office + playroom. I personally try to keep most toys out of DD's room. I really want her to get the message that the bedroom is just for sleeping. We already have enough trouble with her bringing her toys into the bedroom. If they were all in there she'd never sleep!
