Do you think I can trust Zales? Jewelery related.

I need my engagement ring fixed, and they told me it will take a day or 2 ! They are going to have to put new prongs on and set it higher . I guess I am nervous about my diamond, and I have really bad eyes to see inside my diamond ,so when I get my ring back I won't be able to see inside it to be sure it is mine . WWYD?

Can't they take out your diamond in front of you and you hold on to it while they fix it and then they can stick it back in, while in front of you?

when you drop it off, ask them to show you the numbers on the diamond...write those #'s down and check it again when you pick it up

I do this all the timeChat Icon

I don't think all diamonds have the #'s in them, do they?

I took mine to Gennaro Jewelers in Bellmore and they did it all in front of me. I went station to station as they did everything with them.

I've heard that Good Old Gold in Massapequa does the same.

I was going to say Gennaro as well. I had my ring engraved there and they did it infront of me. But they also have this high mag lens that shows your stone on a screen so you can look at the markings before and after and know it is your stone

Re: Do you think I can trust Zales? Jewelery related.

I would only go somewhere that they will do it in front of you. I don't even let them take my ring out of my sight to clean it - it's so easy to switch a stone.

If they need to hold the setting for a day or two, ask for your diamond to be taken out in front of you. Hang onto it and have them put it back in right in front of you. They should be able to measure the diamond to do all the work they need to do... If they aren't willing to do this or do it in front of you while you wait, then go somewhere else. There are plenty of other jewelers who will.
