Do you think it is odd/suspicious when there is a weekday open house?
Do you find it odd or suspicious when a home has a weekday open house? Like 12-2 on a Wednesday afternoon?
Do you automatically feel they are hiding something, such as a noisy neighbor and that is why they want neighbors to be working? Or a barking dog?
I have seen a few during a weekday and it automatically concerns me.
Thoughts?

Re: Do you think it is odd/suspicious when there is a weekday open house?
For me, I would not be concerned. It could be that the homeowners are home on weekends & don't want to have an open house then. It is easier on them to do it during the week when they are working. I also know that when my parents house was on the market, the realtor did a weekday open house for realtors but they were allowed to bring potential buyers. This was to familiarize the realtors with the house.
For any house that DH & I considered, even if we saw it at night or during the day, we made it a point to go back on the weekends & at "prime" times to check out the neighborhood & see if there was anything underlying...

Its probably a broker's open house (although I'm sure they would let a prospective buyer look). Most broker's open houses occurr during the week.

Maybe their target buyer is a family with very young kids. A SAHM would usually have time during the day, whereas they may not in the evenings. Just a thought....

The ones that were on our block recently were for brokers during the week and then like a week or two later was one on the weekend.

Ok good to know, yet they let buyers come in too?
Good idea, I automatically think something is up.

We viewed our home at the broker's open house.

Re: Do you think it is odd/suspicious when there is a weekday open house?
My next door neighbor did some on weekdays and some on weekends. If they were trying to avoid a barking dog, it did not work because for a while it seemed that people would show up within seconds after me letting the dog out. Their driveway is on our side of their house, so my dog barks at people walking up. I felt terrible about this but I take him right in if he gets noisy. Anyway, I just think that they wanted a variety of times and they wanted brokers to show up.

i wouldn't think so... though we never did it, it would have been SOOO much easier to have our open houses during the week. we have jobs that aren't monday through friday and sometimes it was really inconveniant for US having to clear the house out on the weekends as opposed to a weekday.

My agent is holding a broker's open house next Weds.
Ironically, my house has been on the market for less than two weeks, but we've had people in on both Wednesdays, but no other weekdays (except MLK day, but lots of people have that day off.)

Agreed with the agent's open house during the week.
We actually got our house by getting in there before the Tuesday 12-2 open house! We went the Saturday prior and had an accepted offer the same day. We worried a little bit about the open house, which they had anyway, but the inspection was scheduled for the next day.
I also at first thinking - why the heck would you do that? But it worked out to our advantage.
