I think so. DH doesn't think so. My parents paid for my college & DH paid for his own.

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
Yes!! THis is very important to me. Both DH and I got our colleges paid for. Of course, we went to state schools and not private, which helps. I don't want my kids to have tons of student loans.

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
I feel that it is my responsibility to give my children the best possible foundation for them to become successful human beings.
For me - this includes helping them through college or trade school if at all possible.
I doubt I will be able to pay out of pocket for their full educational expenses - but I will do my best to offer whatever I can. I will help them to research scholarships, grants and loans to cover the expenses that I am unable to assist them with.

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
I will help them pay, for sure. But for me...knowing that I was paying for some of it really taught me lessons about life and money. My parents paid for my room and board at school (a private school) and I also had a partial scholarship. The rest was up to me. Same for my sister. We were both in school at the same time, so it was a lot. However, I also had quite an expensive ballet education and I'm sure a lot of people had other expensive "activities" that added up over the years that mom and dad paid for. The ballet things I did were hefty on the wallet and all the things associated with it, my parents paid for, so come school time, I didn't have my hand out! I guess I went to school with the mentality of, "I want my money's worth." And I'm still paying for it! (almost done!)

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
My parents paid (and got school loans and grants) for each one of us 6 kids to go to college Education was highly important to them, and they gave us the best they could.
I will do the same for my kids. We will pay for them to go to college - we already have a nice amount in their college savings plans (529).

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
I do not want my child to have the burden of student loans--(if he or she can even get student loans, as I have heard that they are increasingly difficult to get approval for) and I will save as much money as possible for her college education. When the time for college comes, I'll let her know how much money there is to work with and what her options are in terms of tuition.

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
As long as they keep their grades up, yes, it will be my responsibility.
IMO it is not my responsibility to provide them w/ a car or a cell phone or money for the movies once they are old enough to work.
We will do our best to help them w/ a bachelor's degree, but we will likely not be able to afford a Masters, so that will be on them (unfortunately). I want our children to do better than we did and I don't want them starting out life in debt they will be paying off for the rest of their lives. I'd rather see them save for a house then for college.

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
No, I do not think its my "responsibility" to pay for my childrens college education. I paid my own way (parents divorced, dead-beat Dad etc.)
However, while I do not feel that its necessarily my "responsibility", we do have college funds set up for each of our children. I WANT to pay for as much of their education as possible so that they are not stuck with the MONSTEROUS student loans that I am paying off.

i completely agree. we will save all that we can, and they will take out loans or hopefully get scholarships for the rest.

Re: do you think it is your responsibilty to fund your child's college tuition?
Yes. My parents gave me the gift of an education, and I will do the same for my daughter someday, god willing. That being said, they paid for undergrad, and I took it upon myself to earn a full scholarship for grad school.
