Do you think it's def. a boy?
The sonographer at our 3D last night a) made it clear that he would not angle the photos from the baby's head b/c that would give it away and then later he said, "He, I mean he/she". Is my surprise ruined?

no, i don't think so, b/c if he was angling the sono at the baby's head then most likely the tech didn't see anything either. i think it's still anyone's guess!!

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
I don't think it's ruined. we refer to our baby as he and we're not even sure yet if it's a boy. we'll find out next month. my co-worker refers to everyone as she even her baby.,. and she is having a boy.
certain things are a force of habit. maybe the tech is used to saying he for some reason? try not to think about it.

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
The day before I gave birth the doc slipped and said she. The doc tried to cover it up but I knew the doc had slipped up. You can just tell when they mess up.
ETA: It didn't ruin it at all, but it did take a little of the surprise away.
EATA: Since you are still unsure I would say your surprise isn't ruined at all!!

I think most sono techs use the "he" over she...I don't think they ruined it.

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
My best friend just had a baby in September and didn't know what they were having. On the day she went to the hospital deliver the nurse on duty said "So, you're having a baby boy today!" My friend was disappointed that after all of that time the surprise could be spoiled at the last minute. But guess what? Her baby ended up being a girl!

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
If the tech said "she" I would say, yep, surprise ruined, but it's pretty common to refer to people as "he" when the gender is ambiguous. Although he did try to cover his slip, so.....who knows...either way still a surprise.

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
When I went for my fetal echocardiogram, I told the lady that we did not want to know what the baby was (in case they saw). She said, ok, but I always refer to babies as he. Then she came into the room again, and said, how is she doing, he doing, it doing. I thought for sure that she slipped. A couple of months later I gave birth to my son Don't read too much into things~~~

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
I was more tipped off by him being adamant that the sex would be revealed if he angled the sonogram machine (whatever you call it) lower (but I guess that would tell us either way). I figured it might be more obvious if something was dangling
Anyway, I've always thought boy too - we'll see!

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
This happened to me in my 1st p/g, the lady called it he and I was so upset because we didn't want to know. After she did it, I starting crying and she told me that she refers to all of them as he's so she does not mess up. Well low and behold it was a girl. Then my SIL who is a sono tech said they taught her in school to call them all he as to never mess up. So maybe this is the case with you too????

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
I think some people just tend to say he when they don't know. I wouldn't think it's a definitely a boy.

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
It's def not ruined. I was told that I am having a girl and until March when he/she finally arrives I will not be 100% sure because I keep hearing stories that they were told one way and it turned another way. As long they are healthy and happy I don't think it makes a difference.

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
My sis's 3 child she wanted to be surprised, she had found out the last two. Then at one of her sonos the tech slipped up and tried covering up, but to late b/c my sis had already heard her. But she made a much more of mess up than just a he, so i think your safe. In your case i think the tech just gave it a gender instead of saying baby. I wouldnt go out and buy boy stuff just yet.

Re: Do you think it's def. a boy?
I don't think it's ruined at all. I refer to the baby as "he" and we don't know what we are having. I do think that the tech kinda ruined it for us at our 20 week because we told her we didn't want to find out but during the exam she said "oh look, she is blowing bubbles at you." Oh well. We have no clue.
