Do you think Stainless appliances will ever become "dated"?
Someone once told me that they heard that stainless will become the next "Harvest Gold"..you know, years ago when everyone had those yellowish gold appliances that clearly are from a certain era when you see them.
Do you agree? Do you think Stainless will become dated, and if so, when?

No, I don't. They are pretty neutral and go with a lot of different style kitchens. I think they are going to fall into the classic category of white appliances.

no, I think black, white and SS are neutral
the only issue with SS- is the price of has been increasing for the last 5 years
ETA- price of the auctaul raw material- I think you are going to see alot of faux SS in the market

Yes, I think they will. Before SS in regular kitchens became popular, they were mostly used in industrial and restaurant settings, and thats how people saw them, as cold and industrial/hospital like. I do think that this attitude will come back. It is the "look" now, but will not always be. I think everything that comes into popularity is this way. Remember wall-to-wall carpet? Everyone wanted it in the 80's, it was a huge selling point if a house had it. Now everyone wants hardwood. I am sure there will be a time when w2w carpet is back in vogue.

yes, I think it will respresent a certain timeframe & you'll be able to gauge the age of a kitchen by seeing SS. There was a time that bisque was the in thing-it passed. Everything is a cycle. People like equate SS with $$$$ but that's not really the case, the uber-expensive kitchens in the hamptons have all built in appliances. The stove will likely be SS but thats because it the only finish avaiable on the pro size ranges.

when I was doing my kitchen over, i thought about this also...it seems that everyone has stainless. I opted to cover my appliances w/the same wood cabinetry i used for my kitchen cabinets

Re: Do you think Stainless appliances will ever become "dated"?
So funny you ask, cause i was thinking the same thing recently...i was wondering what the new in color of appliances will be in the next decade. I was thinking maybe copper? or bright colors Kinda like the LG Washing machines
But i hope it stays in the classic category for a while
