Edwin Mieses was paralyzed during the whole Range Rover fiasco. I know Lien did not get charged criminally but they are seeking damages. Mieses was supposedly trying to defuse the situation.

I've watched the lawyer on tv and she is claiming that it does not matter that Mieses did not have a license or has a long criminal history. When he was run over, he was not on his vehicle.

Do you think Lien is responsible to pay for Mieses's injuries?

Should Christopher Cruz, the one who stopped short, pay for Mieses's injuries?

Cruz has been charged criminally.

I don't see how Lien could have avoided hitting him. Mieses put himself in that situation. How do people know he was trying to diffuse the situation?

Mieses's buddies should pay for his care.

I think Cruz should be forced to pay seeing as he is the catalyst for this entire situation. He' was caught on camera purposely trying to get hit, right?

I think his lawyer should focus her attention on his 'friends' and not the other victim in the situation

oh wait, she gets more publicity doing it this way doesn't she? Chat Icon

Not a dime! He was not on his vehicle so he could join his buddies to terrorize this family, and he got run over!

Do I think he should get a payout? Nope.

Do I think he will? Yes. I believe the insurance companies will negotiate a % of fault for the parties involved & go after them.

I can't see a jury awarding him anything after seeing the video

I don't think Misses deserves any money. How do we know he was trying to diffuse the situation. The first comment his girlfriend made was that he was checking on his friend, the other motorcycle driver, not the Lien family. His attorney spun the facts in her press conference to make him more sympathetic. He never should have been there in the first place. He does not have a drivers license. Was his bike even street legal? If anyone should pay it is the other motorcycle driver that caused the mess in the first place.

LIen's insurance company will fight this one 'till they're blue in the face. But I think ultimately there will be a settlement to where all insurance companies will pay a percentage.

Lien was trying to get away from the scene and not stick around and pick a fight. I don't think he should pay a dime.

I agree. Sad but true.

And this guy sounds like a real class act, at least from this article I read:

"Edwin Mieses, who was reportedly paralyzed by SUV driver Alexis Lien on Sunday, apparently never applied for a motorcycle license in Massachusetts and has not been licensed to drive in the state since 1999, according to police and driving records cited by CBS New York. His right to drive in Massachusetts was revoked until 2017.

As recently as May, he was arrested in Andover, Mass., for driving with a revoked license, according to the Associated Press.

In 2001, he was sentenced to jail for driving without a license, according to court records reviewed by The Boston Herald.

However, Mieses' run-ins with law enforcement go beyond traffic violations: His criminal record is six pages long and includes convictions for drugs, guns, attaching plates and destruction of property, The Herald notes"

Out of curiosity, has any medical professional who's been treating him stated he's paralyzed?

ETA: unfortunately ultimately we'll be the ones who will be paying this DBs medical bills and such. Chat Icon

i still dont know what happened right before the SUV ran over him. was that when the tire slashing and etc happened.

I dont know i guess i am not getting the full story but i dont get why he ran over the motorcyclist in the video it didnt seem like he was any danger at that moment.

looked like things got really out of control once he ran over the motorcyclist and thats when things spun out of control.

i dont think the guy i the SUV deserved what he got at all and the motorcyclist were wrong for that 100% but until i get more information on what happened that made the SUV feel like he had to run someone over and paralyze him for life i think SUV dirver was also wrong and should be somewhat held accountable for it.

I think when you stop your vehicle in the middle of a highway and step out, whatever happens next is your own fault. No, I don't think he deserves one red cent.

ETA: And I'm sorry, but all that information about his driving history and lack of license is absolutely relevant. It speaks of his character.

What would you do if someone intentionally slowed down on a busy highway with no reason to do so (as shown in the video...it's not as if there was traffic in front of him) so that you would "accidentally" hit him because you had no other options because you were boxed in on all sides by other motorcyclists. As you and your family wait in the vehicle for a moment trying to figure out what's going on or what to do, the motorcyclists start approaching your vehicle...not just the one you had an accident with.

You'd roll down your window and exchange vehicle/driver information? Especially if they're beginning to bang on your vehicle because you "hit" their buddy? (We won't include potential tire slashing.)

And let's assume you witnessed some of their riding behavior leading up to the incident, which clearly shows a complete disregard for the public and their safety (as seen in video footage prior to the incidents with the RR))...where do you think your head would be at? You would think you'd be safe in the middle of the highway talking things out with these guys?
