the harder it will be for them to go in their own crib/room?

Alexa is still in our room in the co sleeper and I really don't want to move her anytime soon.

Do you think this is a bad move?

I dont think so. DS is in our room in his crib and will be until we move back in July. I dont think it will be that bad once we move ( I may be pipe dreaming too who knows) Chat Icon

No, when you are ready, she will be ready.

Re: Do you think the longer DC sleeps in your room...

I don't believe it. When DD was born I only had one bedroom. She slept in a bassinet for about 4 months. The crib transition was awful. She hated it. I just moved her into my bed & she slept in bed with me pretty much every night until she was 2. Just after she turned 2, we moved into our 2br. From the second night in our apartment, she has been sleeping straight through the night in her own room in her twin bed.

So after 2 years, she went from sleeping in my bed to being in her own room over night with no problem at all. I always told people who said I was spoiling her that I felt sure she'd willingly leave my room sometime before college Chat Icon

I coslept with Ryan for 7 months. Moved him into his crib at about 7.5 months. And although he initially had a little bit of a tough time falling asleep. Once he was out, it was for the night! After 3 days he stopped crying when I put him in the crib as well and has been a champ ever since.

Robbie and Noah both slept with us.. in our bed actually.. until we moved into our house. That was 5 years for Robbie and 3 years for Noah.

They didn't LOVE having their own room at first but the acclimated relatively quickly and now we have no challenges!

I think it depends on the kid..i've heard it go both ways..For us, I couldn't wait to get them out of my room so i can sleep! And both girls slept so much better in their cribChat Icon

Re: Do you think the longer DC sleeps in your room...

I don't think its a matter of sleeping in your room as it is a matter of sleeping in your bed. If your DC can go to sleep on their own, they should have no problem no matter what room it's in. It may be a matter of getting them used to the colors or things in their own room. But that should be an easy adjustment.
When I had my DD I had a 1 b/r apt and she slept in the crib and i slept in the bed. When she was almost 2 we finally got a bigger place where she could have her own room and the first few nights were difficult(more for me than her) but it worked out just fine.

I think you have a long way to go before that happens. Maybe when they are 4 or 5 mths they might start to realize but otherwise, I dont think they even have a clue.
