Do you think this is a good idea?
I'm trying to plan my DD 1st B-Day. I can't spend too much money, so I have to have it at the house. My house is tiny so I'm splitting up the party. Friends at one and Family at another.
I didn't want to spend a lot on food (I'm not cheap, but DH might start another job and it might be less pay). so I was thinking of having a brunch and cake. I can make a lot of things that are inexpensive, like french toast casserole, hash brown casserole, bagels, OJ, mimosis, eggs, etc. Is this cheezy for the family party?

I love the idea and I love brunch. If you remember, Michelle's shower was a brunch, and I actually enjoyed having something different at one of those things for a change.

The party is about people getting together to celebrate DD's birthday. The food is just to keep people from being hungry. It sounds fine.

I think that's fine, who doesn't like brunch? In fact, we're having DS's b-day at a restaurant and doing brunch. I throw a brunch at my house every year for Mother's Day too.

It sounds like a great plan. I am having my DD's birthday party at home this upcoming weekend. Although, I thought it wouldn't cost sooo much $$....it has quickly added up with catering costs. Cooking yourself is a great option!!!! Good luck!

Re: Do you think this is a good idea?
Sure!
We just had Alex's 2nd year party, and for $40 I ordered bagels, lox, cream cheese and potato salad and coleslaw. Put out some chips, hummus, salsa, guacamole and everyone raved about the spread.
Food is food - people will enjoy it no matter what!
