Do you think this is a good idea: re potty training

We think DS is showing a lot of signs that he is ready to start the potty training process.

BUT we are taking a family vacation in July, and I was thinking that we should just wait to do the major bulk of it after the trip, as traveling with a newly potty trained child does not exactly sound like a party to meChat Icon

What do you think? I mean, we don't even have a potty yet, but we could get that and see how he does....

I think you should give it a go now, July is already like 2 months off. If he is into it, and it works...more power to ya! If not, you can wait a while to start again! Give it a go!

I say wait until after the vacation to do the full blown training....but, if he's showing signs of being ready now maybe start to introduce the potty to him. I don't know how it works or if that wouldn't work so really - don't listen to me! Chat Icon

I don't eitherChat Icon

But I don't want to have him be allllmost trained and then stick him in diapers for vacation, and I'm being honest when I say that I do not want to deal with a freshly trained 2 yr old on vacationChat Icon

I would wait as if you think you will put him back in diapers for the vacation if the training is not going well then it sets him back.

You might be surprised and he might take to it quickly but if you dont want to chance it then wait until you get back.

Then I would wait. HE may take to it 1,2,3 or he may not.

I would put it off until after vacatio.

Re: Do you think this is a good idea: re potty training

It's a tough call-
If it was Ayla she would say she had to go pee on the plane just so she could get up a lot KWIM? If she really had to go on the plane- no biggie. She only pee's every 2 - 3 hours anyway so it would be one trip to the bathroom at the most-if that. BUT it's possible she would make a project out of it- and that would drive me insane.

Still a tough call.
How ready do you think he is? Not a big deal if you wait until after July.
