Do you think this is a good price for.....
tilling, regrading and putting sod down? $1,000 is what the landscaper quoted us last night. We have no idea how much sod even goes for. Anyone know? They will be regrading our backyard, about a 500 sq ft area and our small front yard. Here are some pics of the areas I'm talking about.
500 sq ft area (there is some more dirt area past the right side if the pic)
Front yard (the front area in front of the stoop and the grass area on the left of the pic)
They also quoted us for tilling, regrading and seeding for $600. Good?
Pluses and minuses for sod vs. seed?
Thanks for any feedback you have.

Re: Do you think this is a good price for.....
We bought sod for our cat's outdoor playpen. It was $0.41 sq foot from DeLea. Their pen is 400 sq feet, so we paid $164 for all it and picked it up and 'installed it' ourselves. Don't know how helpful that is, but gives you an idea about the sod. We LOVED it, it was easy to put down and looks amazing. Normally the cats kill the grass from running around and playing, but it lived through the winter and came back beautiful.

I agree that this could be done for much less. They sell sod at HD and Lowes. Price it out based on the square footage you need. Also, depending on where you live there's a great place in Holbrook where you can get compost free.
Compost is a great soil additive. Using compost improves soil structure, texture, and aeration and increases the soil's water-holding capacity. It would be great to lay this beneath your sod.

We rec'd a quote of $1800 for 1400 sq feet. we didn't end up doing it and really didn't need it as bad as we thought bc our grass is coming in nice. But that's what we were quoted for the same services.

Re: Do you think this is a good price for.....
Thanks everyone! The landscaper is coming on Monday so we can talk more and make sure we are both on the same page with what we want and what he quoted us. If we are on the same page, it looks like a great quote then I think. Thanks!

Re: Do you think this is a good price for.....
We had sod put down on a big portion of our front yard plus a ton of top soil around our property for grading purposes and seed in our backyard for $2400. We got a few quotes and they were all in the same ballpark. Sod is expensive but well worth it IMO.
