do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
well, i thought i've been eating rather well along.. i mean i don't completely indulge in snacks and junk food, but i know i could eat more veggies. anyhow, my midwife went over my diet and gave me a little slap on the wrist.
i need to eat way more veggies and protein and cut down on the glucouse.
like i normally have pb&j on 7 grain and she thinks that is too much sugar between the jelly and the bread...
with that said, how is everyone's eating habits? do u think you get enough protein, fiber and veggies??

no , I don't eat enough protien or fiber. Before pregnancy my diet was excellent. now I'm too tired to cook so I've been eating a lot of junk!

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
No - I don't eat a lot of junk, but I don't eat enough veggies at all - I eat a ton of fresh fruit .......but I also eat probably too many whole grains - like cereal, pasta, bread, etc. - And I'm not really a big meat eater to beign with, so I'm 'eh' about that too .........

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
I always was very conscious of what I ate-- making sure I ate well-balanced meals and also that I got enough protein as a vegetarian. I don't think I am doing as good of a job now since it's just a little harder to eat normal... But, it's definitely much better now than earlier in my pregnancy.

This is what I did as well. I eat way more bread now than I did before and not as many veggies. Overall I think I'm doing alright, I don't eat a lot of processed food, but my ratio of proteins/fruits/veggies/carbs is off.
Some of the heathly things I used to love I get turned off by now (hummus, tomatoes, peanut butter, peaches)

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
I'm a pretty healthy eater but I don't eat enough protein or veggies. I haven't really liked meat at all this pregnancy. I can tolerate it now, but it's certainly not "enjoyable" to eat.

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
some days are great....others not so much.....
My midwives weren't a whole lot concerned about what I was eating a few weeks ago when my MS was really bad....they were just happy when I ate something.....
It will be interesting at my next visit how hard they are going to "spank my hiney" for my latest food journal.....ho-hum
THe good thing is that we don't eat any boxed, canned or processed foods...We eat a sald or green fresh veg every night.
I haven't really been eating fruit....not too interested in it. I've been heavy into proteins. And rarely do I eat sweets.

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
I am eating too many carbs and sugary things... but I always did.
I am trying very hard to add more fruits and veggies into my diet - and also when I do eat bread I try to make it whole wheat.

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
I'm sure if I put it down on paper nutritrionists would be horrified. I've definitely been carbo-loading this whole pregnancy. The entire first trimester I was having severe poultry aversions and since I don't eat any other meat sources, there went my major protein. Chicken doesn't make me sick anymore but I find myself just not really wanting it. I want rice and potatoes all the time, and pasta. I'm totally not eating enough vegetables at all though I like bean so eat rice and beans alot so I hope that helps get me some nutrients I'm missing.....but I eat tons of fruit. I also have not strayed from eating dessert every night. Ugh, I can't write about it anymore cause I feel terrible now...

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
Be careful witht the fresh fruit ladies! even though fruit is always good for you, it's packed with natural sugars... which might be the reason for failing the gloucose test...

Eating fresh fruit should not affect your glucose test results.
I eat a more well balanced diet now than I did during the first trimester. The only thing I could really tolerate the first few months was carbs.

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
That's the one thing I am doing horribly with, eating good. Eating has been such a chore that it's hard to eat healthy. I have to choose eating at all vs eating healthy right now.

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
well, I KNOW I eat a balanced diet, becuase I was diagnosed with GD and got a work-up with a dietician... basically, I was already eating the way she wanted me to eat.... the only modification she had me make post-diagnosis was to replace my drinks (80% water + 20% juice) with water with a squirt of lime.
Her only complaint was that I wasn't eating enough. Frankly, I've improved since then, but I STILL don't eat as much as she suggested....
(about 60% of our weekly food bill comes from the produce isle... 75% of that is veggies, and 25% is fruit, the majority of the remaining foods are lean meats, spices, whole grain bread and granola, imported cheeses (nothing processed), nuts, olive oil, and whole milk dairy) I should add that eating properly is EXPENSIVE We spend $200 a week for the 2 of us! But alas, we like to follow the old polish saying 'either you give your money to the butcher.... or the doctor... your choice.'

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
Um....nope. Far, far, far from it!!! Being that I'm hurting for money in a MAJOR way, my diet has consisted of mostly peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and grilled cheese --morning, noon, and night. But, everything has looked fine on my sono's and my baby seems to be growing just fine. So, it is what it is. I get milk and OJ when I can, but otherwise, I've been living off of iced tea and water (and I can't stand water---so it's mostly iced tea). On occasion, one of my friends will splurge and take me out for a dinner, but other than that...I have a pretty crappy diet. But, I have no choice right now---at least I'm eating.

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
I ate veggies for the first time since finding out I was pregnant yesterday. I am just now getting back into eating "real" food. Before now, my diet consisted of fruit, freezer waffles, saltines and chicken broth. YUM.

Re: do you think you eat a well balanced diet?
I do and I don't. What I mean is, I eat three healthy fairly balanced meals a day. And then in between I snack on garbage. So I'm not sure what category my diet falls into.
