if you were getting your hair colored by someone out of thier house, would you tip?

No. You tip people who work for someone else business. Not the owner.
If you REALLY want to you could of course but it's not necessary at all.

I don't understand why you would - you're paying them - they're getting the full amount of cash - not like they have to then give it to a business owner.

My hairdresser works out of her home. I usually tip her, but I don't tip her as much as I would someone who worked in a salon.
