Do you trust your doctor?

After my doctors appt last night DH said-I love Dr. Griggs. I wouldnt trust any other doctor with you.
I realize that I definitely feel the same way. As difficult as pregnacies I have not once have I doubted any decisions he has made. Neither has my family.
I can call him at 2 am for any reason. He gets me in to see specialists by personally calling so I dont have to wait weeks, checks on me every day when I am in the hospital or sends someone if he is delivery, I can go on...
I wonder if others have that same relationship with their doctor? Most of my friends dontChat Icon

Re: Do you trust your doctor?

I think that is so important! I completely trusted my doctor.
And to anyone who doesn't I suggest they find one that they do.

I completely trust her & her associate. I think it is important for any Dr-patient relationship to be built on trust.

Re: Do you trust your doctor?

That is very important. I trusted my doctor 200%, even if I didn't like what he said. I also trused the other 2 doctors in the practice.

Re: Do you trust your doctor?

I completely trust all 6 doctors in my ob/gyn office. They all have their own personalities and quirks, but I trust them 100%.
OTherwise I would def find different dr.

I do completely trust my doc, especially one in my group. It's just hard to get to talk to them sometimes because the front desk takes over!

I don't trust any doctor 100%. To me, they are human, and there are varying opinions within the medical community on tests, procedures, etc. The reason I like my doc is that she doesn't offer me her opinion unless I ask for it - she gives me facts and let's me decide what to do. I question authority.

Re: Do you trust your doctor?

I absolutely trust my doctor. I found him after consulting with almost every gyn. on Long Island regarding fibroids. He's very well respected, has a great bedside manner and takes time to explain things.

I get a bit frustrated by his staff, though. When I changed insurance, I gave them all the information and they still billed my old insurance. I had to contact them twice about it.

I just met my doctor's partner and I was very impressed with him.

I think this is a great way to be. yes you should generally trust your Dr but do your own research. Challenge them if you get different info. I trust my Dr a lot but I will still research on my own.

Re: Do you trust your doctor?

I think its common that if a doctor tells you something to do your own research sometiems. Research can be our worst enemy at times) But in general I dont think every issue a person has needs to be researched. I think if a person has to consistently research everything their doctor recommends it means "you dont trust your doctor". The doctor who's advice you follow is the one you ultimately trust if you look at it.

I agree as well....

My Drs have missed a lot of things over the years, and my OB has missed some stuff, If I wasnt 100% on top of things, ALL things it could be dangerous....

I dont blame them, they arent just "my " dr's...they have lots of patients and lives of their own...

But no I dont 100% trust my OB , nor any of my dr's. I think its dangerous to do that actually.....

But I think they are great and love my relationship with them yes....

i've been going to him for about 5 yrs now, so its definitely developed into a dr crush...lol. my husband knows b/c he acts jealous when i have a ob appt - he hates the fact that another man is looking/touching me. and i don't make it any better b/c i tease him about it.

i agree too.

what i DO trust is that my doctors are doing their best... but doctors are human (not to mention usually overworked), and they do forget stuff and it's up to the patient to be involved in their own care.

as a doctor, i encourage my patients to stay on top of their care and to challenge me on things if they think differently than i do. i am happy to discuss the basis of my decisions with them. i don't want them to trust me blindly... because at the end of the day, THEY know themselves best, NOT me...
