Do you use a broker for your car insurance

We are shopping around...

I'm getting quotes myself, but we currently use a broker...

Is there an upside to using a broker?

the upside is- they do all the leg work for you

we used to have a friend that was a broker

and we have one friend that works for a company directly

they have always been about the same price

Re: Do you use a broker for your car insurance

I had Geico for auto & State Farm for my house. I recently switched my insurance and wrote it with my company (I'm an insurance broker) and it was actually cheaper to with my company.

Just like Beth said we do all the leg work for you. Insurance agencies have the ability to write with many different companies so therefore they shop around for the best price for you.

One of my biggest mistakes ever was to buy Workers' Comp. insurance without a broker. I know, it is not car insurance but I will not buy insurance without a broker ever again. The headaches were crazy.

We use a broker

Don't know if there is any upside to it - except they do the work

But a friend of the family has his own company so we go through him

Re: Do you use a broker for your car insurance

I used to and don't see the point anymore. I got a better quote elsewhere and don't pay the broker premium. I haven't had any problems either. If anything, I had more issues when I used a broker...go figure

ETA: I only have car insurance, not sure if that helps.

I have a broker and I by far get better rates than other people get at other places. I have a multi vehicle, home etc policy rate.
