Do you want a subway series
I don't. Although it's fun as a NYer, as a Mets fan, I would ideally like the Mets to make it to the world series without the Yankees being there this time around.
Also, a subway series isn't good for baseball throughout the country. Although it's fun for NY, the rest of the country loses interest. The ratings were awful for the world series in 2000.

Funny, one of the main reasons I don't want one is b/c I won't stop hearing it from the Yankee fans if they win. So I guess the feeling is mutual!

Seriously!! The first one was bad enough.
I had the constant phone calls from my girlfriend in the Bronx..
I went to a bar with 2 of my bandwagon-yankees-fan friends and was the LONE Mets fan in the crowd, which made me one heck of a target.
I mean, on the one hand I'd LOVE the Mets to beat the Yankees in the world series (what Mets fan wouldn't?) but the stress of it all might kill me.

I don't want one. Speaking bluntly from a Yankee fan point of view, we as fans having nothing to gain from a subway series. The Yankees have beaten the mets in the past and if they didn't this time I would have to hear it from all the Mets fans in my office about how the times are changing and the Mets are going to be the new NY dynasty, etc. I just don't need to hear it. See the difference between me and a lot of other fans is I don't throw my team's success in other people's faces. If someone challenges me on it then I am prepared to debate. But if there is a subway series and the Yankees beat the Mets I would not rub it in their face the next day. Just like I didn't in 2000. The Yankees won and I was happy they were champions, but I celebrated with my other Yankee fan friends. I didn't go on and on about it to the Mets fans. I have nothing more to gain by them beating the Mets then if they beat the Cardinals. It is not sweeter at all to me. So from my view point I have nothing to gain and I can only lose if there is a subway series.

i personally don't care
we have beat the Mets recently in a subway series...so we have that under our belt
I think that we will beat them again if there is one this year as well
As a DW od a Met fan...i hope that there isn't one..for the above reason..
But should there be one
should the Mets win
i am ok with that as well

Wow...you sound EXACTLY like my DH.
DH works with SEVERAL Mets fans and they're constantly in his face if the Mets win. The few Yankees fans at his job are calm and quiet if there's a win....NEVER throwing it in the faces of the Mets fans.

i respect anyone who's been a diehard and taken the wins in stride
the sad reality is that the good ones are a minority and as a met fan, we've had to endure comment after comment after comment from the majority of the loudmouths who continue to throw it in our faces every year.
Not to mention the obvious NY media bias.
So unfortunately for the respectful ones, when the Mets do well and should we win the whole thing, payback is gonna be plentiful. And for any Yankee fan that has been respectful and not thrown it in our face, I apologize in advance. You're just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I will respectfully disagree with this statement. I wouldn't say you have NOTHING to gain. I hear this argument alot, "well, we have nothing to prove, we beat the mets in 2000.
Correction: you beat the 2000 Mets in 2000.
COMPLETELY different team from 2000. Practically no one left from that lineup, including the manager and coaching staff.
Not to say the Yankees are the same team from 2000, they're not.
But the core is still there.
And you have to admit that the Mets are young, talented and hungry.
Do we have disadvantages compared to the Yanks - sure.
BUT, the mets have proved alot this year. And, I'll add that in the last 2 years, when we went head to head with the Yankees, we took 4 out of 6 last year and split this year.
