Do you workout when you're sick?
I haven't worked out in about 10 days because of this terrible cough I've had. It started out with what I thought was allergies, constant clearning of my throat but didn't feel sick. So, I continued my workout routine and a couple of days I went jogging outdoors, then turned into a full blown cough (my allergist had previously told me not to workout outdoors cause this can happen).
I have had asthmatic bronchitis before and I'm afraid of doing too much until the cough goes away (it's a really bad croupy cough but I have no fever am at work and otherwise have energy).
Plus my kids started school and my usual workout time they are still getting settled in bed, etc so there's another excuse for me to just chill for a bit. But, now I can feel the effects of not excercising, and 10 days feels like so long!

I usually work out if I am sick with a cold. It usually makes me feel better for a short period of time.

Re: Do you workout when you're sick?
This is exactly what I've been going through! I was running outside and working out and started to feel a weirdness in my chest about 3 weeks ago. About a week ago it turned into a cough like you described, and a cold. I took off from running and working out for one week. Only two of the days I felt run down, but then I felt a lot better, but the cough is still the same. I started running again today and will run and work out tomorrow. I find that its helping speed up the process of the cold, and I'm not coughing as much! I think that as long as you feel ok and have the energy then ease back into your workout.

Re: Do you workout when you're sick?
I agee when I just have a cold it helps speed things up when you workout, just being fit and healthy keeps the colds away or the duration less. However, I am concerned about my asthma since it's not just a cold and the cough is very wheezy/phlegmy, sorry gross but what I mean is it's in my chest. I have been using my inhaler but I think at least for heavy cardio it's best to wait a couple of more days.

Re: Do you workout when you're sick?
Yes, unless I have a fever or vomiting. I have taken days off before when I wasnt feeling well, and I dont think it made me better any quicker. I've been sick for the last week, and I dont think I'd be any "less sick" right now if I had skipped the workouts

if it's just a cold - I run through it. If it's flulike, fever, etc - I try to rest.

same! And it may all be in my head but I think working out with a cold makes me get better faster.
