they smell and taste a little funny the last week or so.... wondering if its a freezer issue? no frost etc or anything inside the freezer. and not from an ice maker just trays i have had for a year.
cannot figure this out ...thoughts?

sadly, i know what you are talking about. I think its the trays more than the ice. When this happens i empty the trays and throw them in the dishwasher for a good cleaning.

Ditto. I know exactly the smell you're talking about.

YES! Every so often I throw all the cubes outside. The dog LOOOOVES eating and playing with them LOL Its like they get old. Once I do thatthe freezer makes more and they are fine.

Re: do your ice cubes ever smell??? i know ..weird!
We were evacuated during Irene. DH and MIL emptied our fridge and freezer and we took all our food to her house because we figured our power would go out (and it did, for many many days lol). We live on the water and although the house didn't flood, we were 100% surrounded by water in the front and back, looked like the house was in the middle of a river (our landlords across the street took a picture)
We did get water in our crawl space and our house STILL smells like low tide.
The moral of this story is that I went to put ice in my soda the other day and it tasted like low tide and this was after we put new water in them. GROSS
