Doctor office VENT

so as some of you knew my OB decided when i was 34 weeks to retire, so i had to all of a sudden switch to a new office. If that wasnt enough of a pain, now i am finding out that the secretary who was suppose to have sent my records from my old OB to the new office, never sent them! and i have my 36 week appt tomorrow at this new place! So i call my old OB and the number is changed, so i call the new # and it is another OB's office who took over her practice (i didnt really like him so i choose not to use them), so i talk to the secretary there and she tells me they have no contact or forwarding info on my old OB and that they havent recieved ANY of her patients records yet and she doesnt know when they will be in! She said it could be the end of the month, the beginning of June, so now i am freakin b/c what if i go inot labor before the records come in, now my new doctors will have NO info on me, none of my lab work, or sonos, or blood work, NADA
so i call the new office and the women is really nice and she said she will keep looking incase they came in and got misplaced, and she said try not to go into labor (gee thanks for the advice ). I am so frustrated and upset

Bonnie, they don't have your records in the old OB's office? I would go directly to the old office and take the file myself. I had to do that when my old GYN office was playing games copying my file for my new Dr.

the old office is closed, you cant even get in i think my old OB was very sick and they literally shut down the whole practice within a weeks time, that was why i called right away to have them send my records, of course they didnt do it, but i prob should have ben more on top of it, but in the past the secretary was pretty good regarding that kind of stuff plus she knew how far along i was so i didnt think she would screw me like that

I'm sorry you have to go through this, I would be freaking too. Just call every day until it's done, that's what I would do. There is no excuse for that! Somebody has those records.

I cannot believe that they just literally shut down like that! You would think that your old OB would have left some office staff working for a few weeks to tie up his loose ends.

i can't believe that. how your OB handled leaving sounds totally inappropriate, and i'm sorry you're going through this so late in the game!

OMG, I would be freaking out as well! Does your new OB have any suggestions on how to maybe find this other doc? I cannot believe they have no way to contact anyone from the old staff How on earth can they do that to a pg woman?

I am not sure if this will help, but if you have had your labwork done at labcorp or quest or any one of the big chains you can have your new obgyn ask them for it. I had labcorp send my blood work to another doctor after I had had the tests run and they were sent while I waited in the new doctors office.

In addition, did you have your sono/ultrasound done by a specialist or in a hospital? If so, they will have copies of your records and you can get them.

Also, do you still have copies of your sono photos? Bring them with you so your new doctor can see them.

hmmmmm....this is so unprofessional! I cant even begin to tell you how PO'd Id be..hopefully all will work out.
