doctor recommendations
Can anyone recommend a good gynocologist in suffolk county? I love my doctor, but it is very hard to get appointments and I have some concerns about the hospital I would have to deliver at (if I ever have a baby). LOL I live near smithtown, so that area would be great. Thanks!

I had a nice gyn but when it came time for him to be my ob I didn't like him. Maybe he was having an off day. I won't recommend the ob I am using now but my cousin uses Dr Arato and Dr Blyzsck (sp?). They are in Stony Brook Medical Park on Nesconset Highway next to Burger King in Stony Brook. They also cover for my current ob. I am thinking of switching to them after the baby is born.

I see Dr. Halpert (Personal Women's Care). He's located in Smithtown - Diagonal from the Watermill Inn on Terry Road.

Hey Christy ~
Why don't you see Dr. Paone???? He is the new doc in the office and he's wonderful!!!! MUCH easier to get an appointment with and the most I've ever waited to see him in the office was 10 minutes (vs. 30 with Mckenna and 2 hours with Escamilla).
I delivered at St. Catherines and had a great experience - the nurses were incredible. They are really trying to change the bad rap they have.

I second this practice...I went there to see Dr Birnbaum (who has since left to start his own practice).
Dr Birnbaum is a OB/GYN who specializes in surgery. He did my best friends surgeries for endo and is such a nice guy! She couldn't be happier with him!

I also have had great experiences with Dr Paone. he is very attentive and I always leave feeling like I was able to ask a lot of questions and get good answers. He really listens.
I have heard wonderful things about St. Catherines recently. I was hesistant about that hospital at first too. I recently met a labor and delivery nurse there and she is wonderful so I am looking forward to giving birth there now.

Re: doctor recommendations
There is a big practice that my sister uses that she is very happy with. I thikn it might be called Suffolk OBGYN but I'm not positive. I know she'll be delivering at St. Charles in Port Jeff. I'll find out today when I go out to see her which practice it is and where the office is. She's 3 months pregnant and has been going to them for a few years and is so far very happy with them. She also went with me to my dr for my last visit and he said he knows them out there and they are very good.

Dr. Brinbaum has opened a new practice in Smithtown. Right on Main Street I believe.

This is who I use and have been very happy with my care throughout the pregnancy. I'm due on Thursday of next week!! I'll let you know how the L&D goes at St. Charles and who delivers the baby!

I 2nd them...I have been going to Dr. Arato for over 10 years...He is just the best IMO. Dr Blzsck delivered my daughter because Arato was on vacation and he was great. I also like Dr Arato because he has the best bedside mannors...when I misscarried and he did the D&C he called me twice afterwards to see how I was doing...when I had my daughter and he came back from vacation he called me to tell me he was sorry he missed the birth and was asking about me and the baby. They are a great group
