Doctors office vent
Someone please tell me if it is me - or have any of you had the same situation?
I like my doctor- generally. Sometimes I feel she is a bit aloof but she is kind and easy to talk to.
I hate the office. Two receptionists have been rude to me. I hate that when I call I am put on hold forever - 15-20 minutes. I hate that they say they will get back to me (sometimes the office, sometimes the doctor) and they don't. Last week, they told me to go for bloods. They gave me the number to call for the closest lab to me and to call the dr's office back with the fax number so they could fax the script. I called back with the number -the phones were on lunch but I dialed 0 and spoke with someone who gave me an attitude telling me that are on lunch now. I called the lab repeatedly that day and the next asking if the script had been received. No - Called the dr's office - oh sure we'll send it. Then I get a call from the Dr's office asking if I went for the bloods. No I didn't because YOU never sent the lab the script. ugh!! In anycase - Does this happen at all offices and I'm just being nitpicky - or should I look for another office? I do have a history with my doctor - but I don't know if I want to deal with this for the next nine months!
Sorry so long. Thanks Christine

Re: Doctors office vent
I mentioned it to a different doctor from the office after a receptionist was rude to me. She told me she would take care of it.
Would you suggest I mention my entire annoyance and my consideration of leaving or just specific instances?

Re: Doctors office vent
i would tell the doctor exactly what you feel and let them know your considering leaving b/c this has been going on for so long.. You dont need extra stress this time in your life. You have to think of whats best for you and your baby

Ditto- it is BS that you have to nag them to do their job.

Re: Doctors office vent
I have to say that I do not encounter this and many times the doctors have no idea what is going on outside. I would maybe bring this up to the doctor.

Re: Doctors office vent
Honestly, if you really like your doctor, I would bring it up with them. They need to know if their staff isn't up to the job. When I first started seeing my doctor, I didn't care for her receptionists, nothing as bad as what you described happened, but they didn't relay messages. So I told my doctor and she basically said that was the last straw, she had a few other complaints about them and they were both on probation. Anyway, a few weeks later there were two new receptionists in the office and they are really good.
If you are not that crazy about your doctor either and it's early in your pregnancy, look for someone new. You don't want to deal with this nonsense for 9 months.

Re: Doctors office vent
I would talk to the doctor about it too.
Generally, I ask the doctor at every appointment about what tests I will need and don't leave the office without prescriptions or making my next appointment. I find it easier to do that than try to do things over the phone.
