DOE Employees- Dealing with post shooting

I have to say I am extremely turned off by the DOE administration. Not one email from the mayor or chancellor offering support or guidance to teachers as they faced their curious, confused students this Monday morning. My principal did give us a memo with suggestions, but I still feel like more should have been done. .She even said she received nothing from the chancellor..

Many of my friends that work on the island had meetings with school counselors/psychologists and were given suggestions on how to address this with their students..

Any thoughts?

I 100% agree. You got a memo? In my school not so much as a mention of the school shooting. Unreal, instead spent time in a meeting about the new rigorous tests and common core standards!

It's such bull$hit.. I overheard a lower grade student telling her mom outside the building that she was afraid monsters were going to be in her classroom today like on t.v.!!! How can the city think this wasn't going to have an affect on these kids..it has been all over the tv.!

Not a DOE Employee, but I have a son in 5th grade on LI and counselors/psychologists went to every classroom to talk to the children.. His schoool also heighted secruity, unlike our HS that did nothing..

My high school kids were very indifferent about it--I was shocked.
