Does a back tatoo effect whether you can get an epi?
I know this sounds ridiculous but I heard TWICE last weekend that a tatoo on your back can effect whether you will be able to get an epidural. I'm having a hard time believing that's true and I feel like it's a stupid question so I'm embarassed to ask my OB. LOL Anyone hear of this?

I have heard this before but I have a back tattoo and it never stopped me from getting epi's.

my dr friend told me that the tattoo is ok for an epi but they can't do a spinal tap if there is one.

I never even thought to ask that question. I have never heard of that but i'll ask tomorrow at my appt.

I have a back tattoo and have had both spinal and epi. Epi didn't take effect (for other reasons), but the tattoo had nothing to do with it and they were able to get it in. Also had a spinal (because the epi didn't work) and that was fine.

I heard that it may affect their view of where to position it, not that you cant get one!

i have 3 tattoos on my spine, my epi went right through one, no one said anything.
