Does a "big boy room" HAVE to be blue?
I picked a beautiful yellow for Thomas' nursury. I knew I was having a boy and still picked yellow. Benjamin Moore Golden Honey. It matched his bedding perfectly (Lil Dino – different shades of blues, greens and yellows) and really complimented the color of his wood furniture (pecan – light to medium color wood). It is a cheery, happy, beautiful yellow and is in immaculate condition. I’ve seen many bedding quilts that I really like that have a lot of primary colors in them which would work well with the yellow walls. I’m sure I can make the room look “big” as opposed to “baby”, but I’m concerned about it being “boyish” enough…
I would LOVE to hear your opinions/thoughts.
Thank you!!

I don't think a "big boy room" has to be blue...I think it's more about the accessories, and the overall look of the room...not so much the color of the walls...

I don't think so. We rent, so Christopher's room is white and I never even thought it about

I think it can be any color.. although pink might be a little odd.
Our boys DO have a blue room (VERY DARK) - but that's because we let them pick the color and the theme (Space).

Where did you get your Space theme stuff? DH loves space... I wonder if Thomas will follow in his footsteps?

We're doing a dark beige paint with red accents.
ETA: I think if you can find bedding to match the yellow that's boyish, it's totally fine!

land of nod has a cute space set that I think would look really great with yellow walls: http://www.landofnod.com/family.aspx?c=7&f=3992
Also, pottery barn has all the planets you can hang. They used to sell a mobile version that we bought for DS room, they are really cool, and a nice pop of bright color. Image Attachment(s):

We bought the blimp light from Ikea and also 2 orange egg chairs from their (space pilot seats!).
We bought a star stencil kit from online and glow in the dark paint in a few different colors for the stars and planets... and then we never got around to painting the star field!!! We still have the stuff for it.
We put up a ton of glow in the dark stars and bought a kit of hanging planets that we put up. And then Robbie - at some point - put up a SpaceMan over his bed on the ceiling (bunk bed).
We got some bedding from BBB with stars and planets on it a few years back.

no, DS is like a mocha color, with navy bedding and red accents. Its more vintagey looking, than typical blue boy. This is DS bedding in the navy, which comes in other colors (I love the brown, but it wasnt available when we were ordering for his room)

Gosh no! My son has told us he wants his big boy room to be pink and red...okay, that might not happen, but it might be red with blue robots!

This bedding would actually look great with the color of his walls! Thanks so much for posting! I think my DH would love it too.
Thanks so much everyone!
